Hey All,

Last year I bought an Alienware R12 with all the trimmings. I mean, top of the line. And it has been a complete and total disaster! After working on this computer for the last year I give up. I'm giving this computer to my boy and it's Time for a new rig.

I work too much to build my own. But, I would like this galley's opinion on ready to go, top of the line desktops in order to play DCS at the highest levels.

What company/s would you guys recommend? (Obviously I'm staying far away from alienware).....

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Harbs

AMD's Zen 4 CPUs will be  introduced in two days.

nVidia's RTX 4090 is already produced and available in October.

My advice if you want a rig that handles DCS "at the highest level": wait some weeks.

I just bought one from Maingear and i'm very happy with it. Top company and excellent workmanship. Falcon Northwest is another good company but pricey. Maingear is too. You know the old saying. You get what you pay for.

I also had an Alienware and it was junk.

We have had this question many many times over here.

As a rule of thumb:

No matter where you buy, let them outline EACH & EVERY component they intend to use, here are 2 examples:

Version A:  LGA1700 Motherboard, USB3.2, PCIe, Sata, NVMe  =  U S E L E S S info

VersionB: MSI Tomahawk Z690 B2-A, 8x USB3.2, 6x Sata, 3x NVMe ( 2x v4 1x v3 ), WLAN-AX, BT-5.2, Gigabit Lan Intel-211, etc etc.    T H I S is useful and you can compare.

same goes for cooling and Power Supply Unit PSU, have them list EXACTLY what they use or they likely rip you off exactly with those items.

If money is secondary, YOU tell them what to put together...and that's where we, the community, can help pick the best for your money. But to do this, you need a company that is transparent in their builds.

IIRC BuzzU's rig had it all listed !?   BuzzU, can you comment on that. Did they list the details from A-Z ??

They listed enough for me to understand. You know I ask for help on the more technical stuff.

How long my system will last remains to be seen but I have no complaint with it's performance.

I'm also impressed with their customer service. I'll also add it could be dragged behind the UPS truck and not get damage it was packed so well.

Pc is not the problem the real problem is DCS like game due to adding architecture of the same, it doesn't matter what level of pc you have high or middle or low until DCS doesn't fix the core problem this game always be falling.

Unprejudiced

You have to realize DCS still runs on single core, and everything is pushed on the CPU.  It's an old engine.

Hoping multicore and Vulcan usage coming soon.  Though I'm not holding my breath.

And Intel's 13th-gen CPUs will be announced and released in early-mid fall, leaks from supply chain are already coming out, so yeah, timing is very important too, you want to wait just a few more weeks or a stretch and see and then jump on the latest, you might have to wait more a bit for time to compare and let things calm down initially, there could be some early bugs and stuff as usual, have a good comparison between the two, market availability and then you choose

Besides DCS's problem is CPU and GPU optimization, which most definitely won't come before the new CPUs (or in the end of the year if it's a surprise), so the wait won't hurt you, the long-term investment is a better way with DCS, doing everything else but DCS would be a good investment, setting up the basics, your place, your PC room, desk, cabling, electricity, then the PC, installation, software, all the stuff around your setup so that when you fire it up, nothing else would be in the way and you can focus on DCS.

Wanted to say thanks for everyone's input. I ended up with the maingear apex turbo with everything maxed out. Absolutely well worth the money.

Thanks again,

Nice,

just tried to reconfigure what you specify as "all maxed out"...what it does among other things is add a 3080ti and one of the BIG processors, either 5950X or 7950X and keeps the 750watt SFF-PSU. There is no PSU choice.

If that is the case, I wouldn't do a full tilt stress test, it may exceed your PSU's limits !

I know it's not to everyone's taste or ability but go the IBM route (I built it myself) if you have the know how it's invariably cheaper and more satisfying, if you don't, phone a friend or read up, get the components and lay your requirements out to a local, small PC shop.

I am very satisfied with the money I paid for a top of the line maingear product and their outstanding customer service. With as much as I work to add another project was just not something I was willing to commit to. Again, I am very happy from my point of view. And again, thank you all for the help.
