Fawx Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 I'm having an issue where my steer points are inaccurate. I'll put in coordinates and the steer point is several miles out according to the HUD and HMCS. For an example on the Syria Free fly F-16 mission I am putting in the coordinates "N33 40.790 E037 13.031 0Ft" These are the coordinates for the middle of the Sayqal runway. But in my Hud, Tgp and HMCS the steer point is several miles away from the runway.
razo+r Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 INS properly aligned? How big is the INS drift for you? Got a track perhaps?
Solution _SteelFalcon_ Posted August 29, 2022 Solution Posted August 29, 2022 0 ft could be below ground, make sure to use the correct elevation for your steerpoint. 0ft doesnt mean AGL / „on the ground“ but 0ft MSL and thus your tgp might be looking „below the ground“ and as result it seems that the pod is off

The jet already starts in the air and fully turned on. 3 minutes ago, _SteelFalcon_ said: 0 ft could be below ground, make sure to use the correct elevation for your steerpoint. 0ft doesnt mean AGL / „on the ground“ but 0ft MSL and thus your tgp might be looking „below the ground“ and as result it seems that the pod is off It was this, I'm an idiot. I thought it was AGL. Thank you for the help.

rob10 Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 (edited) Also, since based on posts you seem to be new to DCS, realize that there are different Lat/Long entry formats available (or for some weapons specified) so always double check you're using the right one. The two options are Degrees Minutes Seconds Decimal Seconds DD MM SS.SS or Degrees Minutes Decimal Minutes DD MM.MMMM (what your current ones are). Using the wrong ones can also result in you being off where you think you are targeting. Can't remember how to change these in F-16 Edited August 29, 2022 by rob10 Originally put F-18 details
