For combat, it's inadequate because you only ever get 1G, no more, no less, but for gently flying around or precision flight, it's the best you can get. Commercial motion simulators are pretty much that, only with an airliner's flight deck in them. Sure, it'll never feel quite the same, but you won't be at as much a disadvantage with such a rig. No, sorry, it really doesn’t. Even level d simulators ($10m+) don’t really do it all that well. I’ve spent weeks at a time in them for professional training, and even they don’t replicate the ‘seat of the pants’ you describe. it’s like the difference between listening to music on a cassette tape, vs being front row at the concert. it’s like the difference between a real naked woman standing in front of you, vs looking at a picture in a magazine. it’s like saying Call Of Duty isn’t ‘quite’ the same being there - but Logitech’s real-metal gun controller attachment does replicate the experience. my point is, some things just cannot be replicated by hardware/software. And devs need to compensate for that a little. And perhaps, even compromise their desire for aircraft ‘accuracy’ in favour of delivering ‘realism’. id agree with the OP that the f14 in dcs is probably over sensitive at low speed, it feels too twitchy (a curve on the joystick axis might deliver a more realistic response here). But for me at least, I enjoy the challenge. Edited September 4, 2022 by Clunk1001 1

Some of those things I've found when I googled probably cost more than a PPL and a lasik, and a used Piper Cup, so 5000 Euros are "nothing" in comparison You better get a decent computer first, so you can start to fly online, THEN you get that 6DOF and invite me over to test it, before I starve my wife and kids to get me one 2
Jayhawk1971 Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) Hey, I didn't say I was going to buy one. I wouldn't say no to a community-driven crowd-funding campaign, though (or in my case, being German, Kraut-funding). Seriously, though, my point was more that the notion of owning a motion platform isn't as outlandish anymore as one of the posters further up in this thread claimed (donning a leather flying cap, etc.). It's within the price range of mere mortals now, compared to what those things used to cost (and some still cost). And some of the home-made sim pits I've seen in posted in other threads must have cost a lot to build as well, excluding the invested manhours, so I'd say 5000 Dollars is a sum that I suppose many who see simming as their main hobby would be willing to invest. Dedicated mountain bikers spend a lot more on their bikes, as do hobby photographers/ videographers on their gear. Or model train aficionados. Edited September 4, 2022 by Jayhawk1971 1
Lionheartwolf Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Has anybody had any issues connecting during the training day instant mission since the last major update? It seems like a whole lot of things broke for me somewhere around August. Wingsweep is all wonky, and I have to manually reset wingsweep at the start of every mission. I can usually connect with the basket pretty well when I set up my own mission but for some reason I just pass right through the basket everytime in that darn mission. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the basket always being out in that scenario vs. having to make the call under regular circumstances, or if something else went wrong since the patch. I can't complete that mission anymore.

I can't complete that mission anymore. I have not tried the mission lately but afair refueling is not mandatory (although advisable). Just get in close formation and then leave - the mission should go on. Wingsweep reset at start is normal when spawning since the wings are swept back - always when not already on the runway. If you won't call intent for refueling and then precontact when in position you won't be able to connect. Also check if the AI is not in the process of (attempting) refueling - his basket will not be available to you - take the other one then. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

More info just to be precise and as a reminder: Quote Wings position will always follow the handle (if powered, operative, and not inhibited by flaps). Changed wing sweep initialization on spawn: Carrier spawn on catapult: 20deg, AUTO. All other ground spawns: oversweep, handle and cover raised. Air spawn: AUTO, position adjusted to the airspeed. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/201735-dcs-f-14-changelogs-amp-updates/?do=findComment&comment=4992709 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
