Okay, so I'm sorry I'm posting this here because for some reason I'm not allowed to post things in Crashes? So if a mod sees this can you change the topic location as I'm unable to

So for some reason when I press on these buttons the game freezes and then crashes like that, wait for the program to respond does nothing, i tried the fix that said change mission editor name in saved games and didn't work, deleted all mission editor files and validated the game again didn't work, i tried what I could and I couldn't get it fixed

It's really frustrating so if anyone can help me with it I'd appreciate it

it used to work normally before

Do you see the same glitches before it crashes?

I don't think so, I press create new mission and add a plane (not a mod plane just to clarify, one of the default ones, i also tried different planes and got same results) then I add the plane, press on these buttons to change load out and stuff and the game freezes then CTDs

Thank you. The payload button activates 3D mode (aircraft previzualisation), which causes your PC to crash on 'DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED' error message:

This could be the issue. How much free space do you have left in all your drives?

I had dcs on an hdd with 120gb left, and this issue occured, I didnt care as i cared more about moving it to an ssd, so i freed the ssd and moved dcs there, the ssd has like 30gb left but this issue happened before I moved it

my other drives dont have much space left around 10 percent

but all dcs files are in the main ssd so i think it has nothing to do with it

The pagefile could be stored on a different drive, it wouldn't change anything. You should try using a bigger pagefile. You simply need to ensure the pagefile is stored on a fast drive with sufficient enough free space.

Run this command through the 'cmd' window and paste the result here, please:

wmic pagefile list /format:list

Thanks. Your pagefile is currently stored on your C:/ drive. Ensure your C:/ drive has at least 40 GB of free space. If it has not, move your pagefile to a different drive (unless other drives are way too slow).

Set both initial and max pagefile size to 16384 (16GB).

https://mcci.com/support/guides/how-to-change-the-windows-pagefile-size/

is it now on E drive https://gofile.io/d/LEdJPY ?

its not slow it used to work fine on this drive

One pagefile is enough. Click on the "C:/" line, tick "No paging file", then click Set.

Then reboot and try again to use the mission editor. If it keeps crashing, please attach the latest zip file again.

what confuses me is that it used to work finely before 😐

This is often the case: things work, then they don't. Sometimes it happens right after an update, but some othertimes it's not that obvious.

Your attachment is the same than before. Please attach the dcs.log file, then.

In the meantime, try this:

  1. Browse to "Saved Games" folder.
  2. Rename your "DCS" folder into "DCS.backup".
  3. Run DCS and try to use the mission editor. Does it crash this time?

Thanks. I just noticed you have the Hercules mod. I see it as a possible candidate for the crashes. The 3 steps above will disable it.

I did the steps and Unfortunately nothing changed

I renamed DCS to DCS.backup

launched the game and it took longer than usual, it created a new dcs folder and still crashed

I was able to use the mission editor with 0 issues whilst having the Hercules mod

Computers are complicated 😄

We'll get to the bottom of it, don't worry. If I fail, ED support will take over.

Please try a DCS repair in "slow" mode.

Yea, I'm on the steam version and I can't do the slow repair thing. However, I tried repairing via steam many times, but unfortunately it didn't fix it.

I'm actually very thankful that you're trying so hard to help me and being so patient, even if I didn't get it fixed.

You're welcome. 😀

Let's take the usual 'DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED' path (this symptom happens a lot, but it can have many different causes). Try these steps one by one:

  1. Set Windows power plan to the max.
  2. If you're using GSYNC, take a look at this solution.
  3. Open the NVIDIA control panel, click "Help", then tick "Debug mode". It will set your GPU to its default factory frequency.
  4. In your BIOS, disable XMP profile.
  5. Remove dust from the inside of your PC.

Hmm, I got the issue fixed but I don't know how that even fixed it

I enabled fullscreen in DCS settings and it worked normally again, it no longer crashes

my game is always on fullscreen anyway so I think that setting shouldn't affect fps?

I'm very thankful for your help mate, we've made it 😃

I have a question tho, if I get a dlc, and I want it installed on another drive (a big map dlc let's say) can I do that? I would appreciate your help 😄

Just move it, update shortcuts and run a full repair.

I would also highly recommend Skatezilla's updater GUI.

Great news! You mean you didn't even tried one of the 5 steps above? You simply enabled Fullscreen?

I don't know much about Fullscreen/Not fullscreen performance, but Fullscreen is supposed to give higher FPS.

About DLCs, you mean you want to keep DCS on one drive and install a DCS DLC on another drive? You can achieve that with symbolic links, but I would not recommend it unless you know what you're doing. On my end, I chose to spend some bucks to get a larger SSD drive (2 TB).

So, I'm supposed to

1-move the location of the map

2-What do you mean by "update shortcuts"?

3-Run a repair? (via steam in my case}
