I want to concentrate on the Hog and it just seems so right to use a Warthog HOTAS to do it. So, I bought a new one and got it today.

What a surprise I got. TM finally changed the slew switch. I guess the gazillion complaints they got about the old one finally sunk in.

It looks just like the one being sold on this forum that almost everybody bought.

It works perfect. A 1000% improvement over the old switch.

So, there's a $100 I won't have to spend upgrading the slew.

I'll change to the green spring and i'll be done modding this Warthog.

Sorry, if this has been talked about already. I've been gone for awhile.

Welcome back, good luck with that statement if you ever try someone's Warthog throttle with a VirPil WarBrd base installed... 😄

That'll make him mod his Warthog more? 🤔 😉

I like my Warthog with a blue spring and 2x20cm extensions, but it has some serious design flaws that surfaced, that I need to take care of. I'm sure VBK/Virpils are awesome, but I rather have a better FFB stick than my MS FFB2s. 😊

You mean the Warbrd base for the stick. Yes, it will be something i'll buy if the Warthog fails me. However, i've had 5 Warthogs so far and none of them broke or got stiction.

The truth is I have a WinWing for the Hornet but I felt the Warthog would give me more immersion for the A-10C.

I'm surprised nobody is surprised that TM changed the mini-stick. Did you guys already know about it and talk about it already?

I had no idea, will check it out.  I'm on my second WH and it's already been 2 years of smacking it around. Only 1 mod on it (AB detent filed). I'm way behind the curve on what's new and improved in the sim hardware world.

BTW, what's with the 'green' spring?

I think the stock spring is too stiff to make fine adjustments around center. The green spring is much lighter and feels like adding an extension but without the extra travel the extension adds.

Pretty cool on the new slew. I actually never had a problem with it and kinda like the nibble/low profile being hidden and not getting in the way or bulging out. I have the Delta sim mod but I haven’t replaced it. Would like to see how it looks as the TM website is not showing a pic of the new slew.

Thanks for the pic ! It looks pretty nice actually. I wonder if we are able to get the new slew and replace the original one. I may contact them to check.

Thanks for the heads up BuzzU.  I tested it today and yea... hell of an improvement over the old one.  I still prefer to use my index finger on it. With properly adjusted dead zone and the curves I can control the movement from slow creep to quite fast. With HMD on, designating targets on the ground wasn't too bad either. And... I can check the 'realistic' TDC box in the setup now :)

Yes, i'm aware and posted it in this thread. I've bought two and i'm about to order another one. They really do make it feel much better.

I don't use a desk for the HOTAS but have them at my side Viper style.

Thanks for your help.

btw...I still feel TM should lighten the spring. They're suppose to have the same tension on the buttons and switches as the real Hog. How about the stick too? No way can the real stick feel this stiff. The stock spring feels pretty good with a 10CM extension.

The real stick has about 11kgf in pitch and 7kgf in roll, it actually feels much stiffer than anything you can put on the desktop. Same with the Viper stick, forces in the real aircraft are quite high.

The Viper uses pressure and not movement. I know that is high stick pressure. You've felt a Hog stick? It uses a long stick and should feel light until air pressure goes up.

I've flown a real P-51 and it is light compared to the Warthog around center. My buddy owns the Mustang. Lucky dog.

Thanks for pointing me to this thread. I didn't know newer warthogs came with an upgraded slew. I bought mine in August and it came with the old crappy slew.

I didn't know either until I got it. What a pleasant surprise.

Hi BuzzU,

Would you please confirm if yours is the MFR 2960739 (with the update slew). I didn´t find this information on the Thrustmaster website. I found a brand new with this MFR.

Thanks!

The one i'm talking about in this thread was #167720.

Thanks, I guess you mean 2960720, that´s the item model number for the Warthog Flight Stick and Throttle.

I want to buy only the throttle so the MFR is 2960739 (for the throttles only). I´ll try to contact the store again, when I asked the guy said:  "I don´t know, the box is closed, etc." 😄

But thanks anyway. 👍

I wouldn't buy without knowing for sure if it has the latest slew. Especially, when buying just the throttle. They don't sell as many of those as the Warthog HOTAS and is more likely to be the old style.

Same here.

But that add above (this thread): https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-HOTAS-Warthog-Dual-Throttles/dp/B00T5X3Z2S?th=1  is the upgraded slew. 👍
