Hi,

After having landed on an airfield, is there a certain hangar or parking area that you are supposed to taxi to, or doesn't it matter where you park your jet? I know you get a mission successful stamp even if you park on the runway, but I once crashed before reaching my airfield, and instead watched my wingmen land, taxi to a certain hangar, and then enter the hangar after the doors opened for him. This is what made me wonder about this.

I want to get away, I wanna fly away.

It doesn't really matter, in fact as soon as you have killed the targets you need to you can just hit ESC and not even bother landing.

But most folks prefer to come back and land. Only AI aircraft can go into the HAS (Hardened Air Shelters), so you would have to go park on a hard standing.

If you were really keen, then for each airbase, set up a mission where you take off from the parking area. At the mission start, hit F2 then zoom out and note where on the base you are. That is where to go back to, I guess.

If you do bother to do this for each base in Lockon, come back and post this info as I am sure there are many folks who would like to know, me included. I am just too lazy to do it myself :D

LOL, you're not the only lazy pilot on this forum! Anyway, I found a way to enter those hangars. I line up in front of one, open up my canopy, utter a melodramatic Hamlet-style "Sesame-Sesame-open up!", and let a couple of rockets fly. 4 usually does the trick.

Expect a special look, and maybe a raised eyebrow from the officer doing the debriefing. 8)

Actually I have taxied into a HAS, I just ALT J to jump into the AI after the doors have opened.

More usually I use that trick to taxi out from a HAS at the start of a mission. It is annoying when you start on the hard standing miles from your wingman who is in the HAS.

as long as you stop and kill your engines off the runway, the mission has

always been a win for me.

(i've never tried to hit the esc key to exit out after completing the mission)

Thanks,

Slightly OT, but wouldn't it be realy cool to have real ATC. And I mean air traffic CONTROLLERS, that actualy controll you and tell you what to do.

That would realy spice up missions, as it would pronounce the start and the end of the missions. Right now the most interesting stuff happens almost only in the middle part of the mission ( shooting stuff ) and afters that I am sometimes temped to end the mission, without making a 08/15 landing at a 08/15 ghost airfield.

If I recall correctly, I'm sure that DID's F22 Total Air War implemented some sort of Air Traffic Control. I seem to remember that you could start the mission parked outside the hangar (or inside), wait for the 'go' signal from the tower, and then taxi to a specified runway. I remember that I had to stop the aircraft on the last bit of taxi runway, and wait for another signal from the tower. Then I would line up on the runway, get the takeoff clearance, and take to the skies.

Of course, I could just ignore all these tower messages, and make a run for the runway at once, or I could press Ctrl-S (or something) and time-skip to the runway. But it was fun to wait for those clearances from the tower.

It is actually possible to do this, it requires the ATC person selecting Tower view. Theres no Radar though.

You can select the F10 view and monitor Player Aircrafts and also their bearing when u click on them .. (y)
