BuzzU Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Could someone with a 3080 card please post a screenshot of your Nvidia settings for DCS. Thank you. Buzz
Hiob Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Everything is on default, except V-sync is forced off (and G-ysnc is enabled). You won't find any NVCP-Setting that will meaningful increase fps (you can lose some though). "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
BuzzU Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 I have plenty of fps. I'm looking to get rid of some sparkle-shimmer. Buzz
Hiob Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Than you should test the different Anti-Aliasing options. None of them will erase the problem entirely though. And they are all pretty costly. "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
BuzzU Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 I have but was curious is something else might help. It's almost all with shadows and I can get rid of it by turning them off but i'm looking for another option if possible. Buzz
Hiob Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 I'm afraid there is no such option. But could you elaborate what your problem with the shadows is? If you mean the flickering of small shadows in the cockpit, or ground shadows on the default setting, that is by design unfortunately. No nvidia setting can help with that. But I'm not sure that I understood your problem correctly. "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
BuzzU Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 It's ok. I'll just leave shadows off. Thanks Buzz
Lange_666 Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Yep the ground shadows shimmer a lot, especially when the sun is low and the drawn shadows get longer and more spiky. Depending on where you fly then, shimmer is your deal. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
BuzzU Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 (edited) I have a hunting game I play and the shimmers are unbearable because we're always on the ground. The problem is there's no way to turn off the shadows. I was hoping for a fix in DCS that I could also apply the the hunting game. My fix ended up being shutting off the shadows in DCS and deleting the hunting game. There! All fixed! edit...I discovered in all my testing that Trackir makes it worse. Shimmering does not happen (or almost not, like in 99,9%) on fixed camera views. If you don't use Track IR (or another headtracker), your camera will not move and presents a fixed view unless you use the keys to look around. The moment you stop, the view you're looking at is again at fixed view. With TrackIR that's not the case. The view will always move a very little bit because you can't keep your head still even if you think you do and then the shimmering along lines and edges kicks in because along those edges, pixels always change color. You can counter that by creating a bigger deadzone but that only works around center and is annoying because your view will not directly move when you move your head. BuzzU Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 (edited) I'm aware of that and did create a big dead zone to test it. Trackir does create the shimmer. Looking around with keys looks perfect. No, i'm wrong. It is a very slight movement that made it shimmer. I guess the dead zone I made wasn't large enough. Edited September 22, 2022 by BuzzU Buzz
