Agg Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 How about letting the community decide what the next DCS module would be? Ok, so the next one is Warthog, that's fine and dandy, but as far as I know, there has'nt been made a decision as to which aircraft will follow the A-10. Why not let the community decide? ED could make a poll with the possible candidates, we know there has been done work on the F-16, the Apache and the Hind, so let's say that we could vote for one of the three, and the one that got the most votes would be the next module (after Warthog of course). And just to stay on topic, being Norwegian, and having grown up right next door to one of the RNoAF's "Main Air Stations", I'll allways have a special place in my heart for the F-16, and I'm really hoping to see it in DCS "soon" (even if its just the C-model, and not the MLU).

Sunjah Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I thought I remembered a person from the ED team saying A-10 is definitely next, and after that it "looked" like the AH-64 would come in. Not definite, but I think he said it is looking that way (which is fine by me!). Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

Flying around in a over-powered sail-plane sitting in a bath-tub for a cockpit? Nothing's going to make that seem glamorous . NOE, skimming over the contour's, deep penetration is what it's all about, and Tornado sim pilots don't have to talk about it (much) because they can DO it! Cas (ual) A-10 sim-pilots though, have a tendency to brag about how big their virtual gun is ... is this a compensationary thing maybe? :D Cheers! Sunjah Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) A-10 is next. Not my first choice, but I can live with that one. After that, it is a toss up between AH-64 and the F/A-18 (Super) Hornet. Either one is fine by me. Given the choice, I go F/A-18, as we already have a good chopper, and I just don't think of the A-10 as that high-powered fighter for deep strike missions or combat air patrol (and carrier landings, too:joystick:!). Ka-50 Hokum Black Shark (done) A-10 Thunderbolt II (coming soon) --------------------------------------- F/A-18 (Super) Hornet (next-in-line) OR AH-64 (hopefully D) Apache (next-in-line) ...then just vice-versa the non-chosen one for #3, make it #4, and we have serious combat vehicles to choose from! :joystick: :joystick: :joystick: ;):megalol: ;) :joystick: :joystick: :joystick: Edited January 10, 2009 by Sunjah Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

GGTharos Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Right now the f-18 doesn't even have a chance. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Sunjah Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Just curious what makes you think it's a toss up. Not being combative, I'm just curious. Just personal preference. I have feeling there will be some type of fighter coming in as the fourth one, and the F/A-18 (Super) Hornet is just my sentimental favorite for sims. I love being based on a carrier, and as hard as carrier landings are, I enjoy them. Good chance it will be the F-16 or a MiG instead, but I can hope for the (Super) Hornet until shot down (in flames). Not sure why, aside from putting in more time with the F/A-18 in sims than any other, but I really love that plane. I do think the Apache (hopefully Longbow) will be after the A-10. It would make sense going back to another helicopter after a fixed-wing plane. Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

I think, from a sales point of view they should make a fighter next and then a ground attack and then another fighter and then another ground attack etc. etc. which would draw a lot more people in.

Good point! It could come out that way. Someone from the ED team or a Tester kind of made it seem like AH-64 is 3rd in line, but you may well be correct. What about us who doesnt want any attacker/fighter at all, but wants CSAR choppers? A-10C, AV-8B, Ka-50, F-14B, F-16C, F-5E, F/A-18C, L-39, Mi-8, MiG-21, MiG-29, SA34, Spitfire, Su-27, Su-33, UH-1H
Alexrey Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 What about us who doesnt want any attacker/fighter at all, but wants CSAR choppers? I dunno, maybe you could load up SimCopter? But seriously I don't think a CSAR will be added because they're probably concentrating on weapon carrying aircraft that kill things.

But seriously I don't think a CSAR will be added because they're probably concentrating on weapon carrying aircraft that kill things. Well, then you could probably load up Lomac, which is far more realistic when it comes to air-to-air than SimCopter comes to realistic SAR. This is just a silly argument. Just think of the new dimension it would add to DCS if you can be a combat chopper pilot doing troop insertions, rescue operations, recognizance missions, etc. I believe many people in this forum enjoys AVIATION as much as blowing up things. And CSAR missions needs much more piloting skills in terms of FLYING than standard CAS missions. 1 A-10C, AV-8B, Ka-50, F-14B, F-16C, F-5E, F/A-18C, L-39, Mi-8, MiG-21, MiG-29, SA34, Spitfire, Su-27, Su-33, UH-1H

Sorry, I misunderstood your post, thanks for the clarification. I do think the Apache (hopefully Longbow) will be after the A-10. I think it will be the AH-64 as well, although that's not yet written in stone. (It's written in pencil on a wet paper towel.) Also, I can guarantee that it will not be the Longbow, it will be the AH-64A.
Sunjah Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 ... Also, I can guarantee that it will not be the Longbow, it will be the AH-64A. I think I can still live with that. Actually, it will be really interesting to get back into an Apache after flying this Ka-50 from present until the new helicopter module is released. It will be an interesting comparison. I really liked the Ka-50 at first (first week or so), got very frustrated for several days (sooooo touchy, she is!), and now I'm feeling like I'm starting to get the bare minimum basics down. So, I think I am back to liking it. I am really starting to learn how to take-off, fly, and, um, <cough-cough>...<throat clear>...learning how to <cough> land?!?
