Just tried Helios for the first time on my small display I use for my external mfd’s. Took a couple minutes of fiddling to get it going, but not too hard.

It is awesome, that is all!

Now to find a decent 24-27” touchscreen to mount under my main display😃

Didn’t notice one bit of performance drop.( I’m sure a 1080 or 1440 monitor will ding a few fps) but all in all pretty impressive!  I average in the 75-100 range on a 5120x1440, running re-shade, an external mfd monitor, track IR and most all graphics on high/ extreme, and dcs-ufc app on tablet so there’s room to spare.

—tested with a non touchscreen 1920x1080 monitor and noticed no performance drop at all. mfd’s are plenty large on a 24” screen, not really sure why I didn’t try this years ago lol

Can helios display just the video part of a display and nothing else? I want the video part of the f-16 MFDs but I don't need the buttons because I have the thrustmaster button frame things.

Yes but its much more complicated. Regular mfd exports are easier done in game. Go to the forum section “multi-display bugs” the first pinned post is a step by step guide for mfd exports.  Read it first once or twice before following through it. Its not hard to do but does take a bit of tweaking the size and location to get them lined up with the cougars.

Helios is more for if you want the cockpit panels, viewports, gauges, and all clickable buttons and switches on a separate screen(s) like a touchscreen. Like my setup here.

I ran a 12” display with cougars for a long time, and it is hands down probably the best mod you can do.. most helpful anyway.

Here was my mfd setup previous to helios. I had not aligned and sized the viewports in the picture yet, I was just excited they worked lol  You have full control of size and position of them to get them perfect.. However that size carries over to all aircraft. The a-10 displays are a bit larger and went outside of the cougar borders so I had to resize to get those to fit and just deal with the f16 and 18 being slightly smaller than they could be.. and the app on the tablet( android only) is called dcs-ufc, its $12 but its really handy to have. It has multiple screens for various aircraft, not just the UFC’s.

If you dont have a screen yet, this is what I used. Perfect size, just velcroed the cougars to it. If you want them separate then I’m not sure what is best for that

I have my stuff all setup in game to export the viewports but a recent DCS update doesn't allow the lua's to be edited anymore. now when I join multiplayer it flags the integrity check.

Yeah they introduced, “require pure scripts” as an option for servers. If its turned on in the server then you basically cant have anything but the vanilla dcs install.MP will fail ic too sometimes before even entering a server and just have to restart ( as per ED). Helios does way more modification to viewports and things, but still lets me in any server that doesn’t have pure scripts enabled. It really sucks that they can’t / won’t modify their IC check to exclude monitor and viewport exports. Its pretty BS. If you start dcs and you don’t go straight to MP , the ic will usually fail immediately. Hoggit, for example, was my go to casual MP server where people at least talked and had someone manning ATC once in a while. ED’s solution to cheaters was lock the game completely down, or not at all even though many players use exported views/ simpits, helios, etc. Hell exporting mfd’s on multi-monitors is built into the game. Doesn’t make a lick of sense to me.

Hoggit was a go to for me too.

i went to hoggit training server (TNN release)
and because i have multimonitor setup with TEDAC and MFD export, i would crash to desktop 3 mins into joining the server.
i have problems joining any server with integrity check.. where i end up with crash to desktop.
non IC servers i am ok
Same

so your crashing also on an IC pure client required server?
Not crashing. Just getting kicked back to the server list with a red integrity check shield

Yeah I have no problems..but if you start any single player thing before going to MP it will fail ( current dcs bug). Also of you leave a server to go to another, after playing, it will fail.. both I believe are related to the same bug, restart game is the only fix. BigNewy has mentioned in other posts that they are aware of the bug.    Unless its a server requiring “pure scripts” then nothing will pass except the vanilla game install.

When yours fails ic, and you click the red shield, is it only giving you errors related to the aircraft you were just in?( bunch of lines about the viewport handling.Lucas) Or are you not able to even get into a server at all?

Yes it only flags the aircraft I was just flying with modified viewports. I tried setting up a Helios profile for the Viggen.

Interesting.. did you start making that one yourself? I don't know how captnzeen, Soyuz2020 and blufinbima get their profiles to pass, but whenever I slightly mess with viewport handling myself ( like to remove the on-screen/ in cockpit mfd’s, just commenting out one part of a line of code)  it fails right away no matter what, helios or not. I’d love to know what magic trick helios uses.. I wonder if it has something to do with they way helios applies the patched files for the profiles. I’m not smart enough to create one from scratch. The CaptnZeen discord may be the best bet for an answer. But you may not get much help if its one you designed from scratch.

Helios is great, but it is 3rd party and at the mercy of how  ED wants DCS to work. Guess it never bothered my because I don’t switch servers really, I’ll either stay in the same one, or hop over to liberation if MP pisses me off lol

Lots of people are feeling the pain now I think, pretty much everyone is affected that exports anything, helios, simpit builders with heavily modified files etc. ED doesn’t have a way to really separate viewport exports from the integrity check, its a very basic system. I hope they understand how important it is to as lot of us and care enough to revamp it one day. IC is their crackdown on cheating but right now its an all or nothing kind of system.  I totally understand not wanting people in servers with modified flight dynamics or weapons but exporting displays is 100% silly to get flagged for. Just the other day I saw a guy on the dcs discord asking someone to walk them through modifying an aim-120 to go double the distance and fly faster.. nah dude we don’t want you lol

I just tried to join Hoggit with helios turned on and it booted me immediately.

Yes Hoggit has the new ‘pure scripts” enabled. It won’t let any modification through, not even the slightest change or mod from the basic vanilla install. I liked Hoggit a lot but they said its the only way they can stop a certain cheat or two since the 2.8 update. They had a workaround before on the backend but 2.8 changed something and they had to enable that pure script function. Through the inferno, ddcs, flashpoint Levant and most others seem to work fine still.. I did like Hoggit because people actually use comms in there, not sure why others are so quiet.

Oh I just zoomed in… use either * or / on the keyboard number pad.. or like i do with an extra hat on my throttle, bind “view zoom in/ out slow” in the view section of controls. 😃 It wont save the position when you restart unless you modify some .lua files, thats why I put it on a hat, so I can change it wherever I want on the fly
