104th_Crunch Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 I am pretty sure pitch trim is rarely used in RL in the F-16. The FLCS constantly auto trims for 1 G. Best to just never use pitch trim. 2

Are you trimming using a trim hat on your stick? Also for what purpose are you trimming? I can’t remember the last time I trimmed the F-16 in pitch for any reason. Scofflaw Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 In DCS, the initial pitch trim range is a bit sensitive but slows down. What this means is that pitching up/down from neutral trim will be pretty aggressive at first. The roll trim seems steady in its entire range. I'm not sure what you mean by "autotrim a little slow on approach", as far as I understand it, the aircraft tries to maintain 1G, but you can maintain 1G at all kinds of different AOAs. If you hit RCTRL+ENTER, you will see your trim settings, and the above statements will make more sense. 1 run come save me

I never used the trim up/down really, no need for it if the aircraft is not broken or something.
Frederf Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 F-16 never changes trim without pilot input except during wheel spin up (takeoff roll) which runs pitch wheel to center. There is no auto trim. A runaway trim wheel is not normal. The trim wheel can by moved on the console or by the remote trim hat on the stick (if DISConnect switch not disconnect). I would check which item in the cockit you're interacting with. 1
ruddy122 Posted October 13, 2022 Author Posted October 13, 2022 Curious does the FLCS know what 1G flight is? And maintains it Viper is amazing once you read more about it [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] LUCKY:pilotfly::joystick: Computer Specs CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz| GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 6Gb | RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 3000 MHz | OS: Win 10 64 bit | HD: 500 Gb SSD

One of the main bits of data the FLCS uses is G loading. Dragon1-1 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 In the Viper, pitch trim is basically not used, because it trims G. Unless you want to trim it to fly hands-off in a turn, there's no reason ever to trim for anything but 1G, which is the default. On top of that, the trim switch isn't super-precise, as on other aircraft, but here it's a problem because if the pitch trim is wonky, then it'll be wonky no matter what you do, because it's trying to maintain a different G. That's where the wheels come in handy, and also if you need to precisely trim out roll (which FLCS doesn't do much for other than to apply a limiter).
RuskyV Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 The trimmer switch on the stick could do with being a little slower or less sensitive allowing for finer amounts of adjustments. When pressing the trim the actuation is a little faster than some of the other jets makes trimming a little less precise. I don’t think this is anything to do with the flight model Itself but more to do with how the trim is working with this module. A little slower and more precise. 2
