Kenan Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 'Ellou! I've been having this problem with my X52 for like, 2 years. The cable which connects the stick and the throttle is broken and the stick sometimes stops responding during the flight (which is fun especially if you're flying low). I usually correct this problem by replugging the cable in the stick, the lights sometimes go OFF and then replug it and they go ON again and it seems to be working..untill the next time. Sometimes even with the lights on, the stick is just dead. I suspect this might have something to do with the faulty cable. So is there a place I could order one? Sh0d4n Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 mhhh maybe u should ask this in the Saitek Forum ? :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
diveplane Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 contact saitek support, they might be able to send you a new cable. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 That cable is nothing but a old PS2 keyboard cable. Radio Shack might still have them, and you can find them on-line at computer cable vendors. Saitek will not send you a new cable unless its under warranty and you send them proof of purchase etc. The reason I know this is I had a similar problem with mine I was sure was the cable, but it turned out to be a bad connection inside the stick that I was able to fix (and so far its held up...fingers crossed). H-street Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 i believe its just a PS/2 cable.. any PS/2 double ended should work
geogob Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I think it's a 8-pin mini din connector. I'll check on my X52 cable when I get home. Or it could be a 6-pin. I'll check tonight (or check yourself using the guide below). here the cable I think you need (to be confirmed) http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=928&sku=02316 Here's a guide that might help you: http://www.cablestogo.com/resources/din.asp Any good electronic store should have 8-pin mini din male-male cables in stock. Many online store have them. EDIT : now that I think about it, I have the X52 PRO. Might be different than the X52. Better check yourself the connector type. Should be easy with the guide I linked to. Or just count the number of pins :P Edited January 8, 2009 by geogob
geogob Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 After verification, it's a standard 6 pin mini-din male-male cable.

My throttle was losing contact and find out it was happening on one end of the cable next to the stick connector. So, eventually, I cut the connector open and it seems that the grounding wire had been split-up so I just put it together. It doesn't look nice now, but it works :) But, if you have a standard connector, it's easier to get a new one I guess. i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. emenance Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 WEll how can it be a cable!!!!!!!!! If everything works in the control panel but doesnt work in the game how can it be just a connection problem. ? Hell I can test mine in control panel, then gentley start to move it around in the game and NOTHING. I had the same problem, needing to pull out the cable then stick it back in and now the stick is just dead now. Will not work at all in the game but will test fine in the control panel. We need proof its a cable because I dont believe that. if it works in control panel, how can it be the cable? I have a spare cable off my old X52 if you want it. You will have to pay postage. JFYI the connectors are PS2 but using an OEM PS2 cable will not work for some reason!!! I bought a 3 metre PS2 to PS2 so I could thread the wire through my wire free desk but it would not work. BTW I don't think it's the cable sounds like you got a common problem with the X52. http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=9367 Give me a shout if you want the cable.
