Hi,

I've just bought the campaign after the 2.8 update, but on the first flyable mission the AI won't takeoff after taxiing. I'll retry this afternoon, but it looks like the mission is over before even starting without being able to takeoff.

I tested it a few times, it looks like it's the other P-47 flight that's coming from the other direction that's blocking your lead. Try to press spacebar either a little sooner, or even better, after those guys reach the end of the runway. I know it's not a 'fix', just a workaround but maybe it will work until ED really fixes the issue.

Thank you for the quick answer. I will try saying I'm ready earlier, and warm the engine on my way to the runway. 

A temporary fix is better than no fix 🙂

I tried going as fast as I could, Halstead Red 1 and 2 managed to taxi without trouble, but my element lead wouldn't move as the other P-47s were taking off at the same time. So we had to wait a solid 3-4 minutes before crossing the runway to taxi to the takeoff point. Unfortunately by that time another P-47 flight was waiting aswell and so I was stuck with the same bug, except it was Red 3 that was stuck this time, not Red 1.

Unfortunately, given the fact that I have very little time to access my setup, I wasn’t really wishing to spend more time on it. I understand this is an ED problem, and I will be sure to come back to it once it’s fixed, or when I have the time to troubleshoot it. I love the P-47 and your campaigns are beyond awesome, so be reassured that I will go through it eventually 🙂

However, as I was looking for people on the forums having the same problems, I came across your "Fortresses over Europe" multiplayer mission. I’ve spent all the rest of my weekend playing on it, it was awesome. Are you planning to make a similar mission when Normandy 2 comes out? Long range escort missions in multiplayer is just one of the things I would love so much.

I am in the same boat and cannot complete mission 2 as the ai just queues at the end of the runway.

Any idea when or how it will be fixed. Can I miss out mission 2.

I have the same experiences:

  • When I'm not fast enough to startup, the entire flight (4 a/c) gets stuck at the threshold, plus the 4 a/c from the other flight.
  • When I'm fast, the first element of my flight takes off, but my element as well as the 4 a/c from the other flight remain stuck.

One workaround is to "breach the chain of command" and just pass by my element lead and take off before him. It will then be difficult for me to find my flight, but it appears that my takeoff unblocks the waiting aircraft, as I see them in the air later, once I have located my flight.

I've come across this today in Mission one. When you give the thumbs up to taxi, one of your wingmen taxi's forward, turns right onto the taxiway, and just stops. Your flight lead and the other wingman just stay on the grass, without moving.

Please post a track to either the ai bugs section or the channel map bugs section.

Will do. I managed to get around it somewhat by taxiing, and pulling infront of my element. They then all followed me and took off as normal. Strange.

I noticed this strange behavior also when I was just beginning to fly this campaign very recently but temporarily shelved it when Normandy 2 came out and I started up the Blue Nose campaign.

OK, I just tested it in the latest OB, and it works fine. Mind you, the AI will not cross the runway's end until there are other ships taking off in order to avoid any collisions. Once they're all gone, your AI flight will cross the runway and taxi just fine. Just be patient 😉
