Hi,

Was flying PG last night being very impressed with the new lighting. However using FLIR things like water, electric pylons etc where glowing when using WHOT.

Is this right?

Realistically speaking, water is a good thermal insulator, so it takes longer for it to heat up or cool down. Depending on the time of day and outside temperature, it may appear warm based on how much energy it's absorbed. Metal, on the other hand, is a good thermal conductor, so it takes less time to heat up or cool down, and metal pylons should reflect that.

In terms of DCS, the new FLIR render may need additional tweaking for certain objects based on their material, the time of day, air temperature, and presumed energy state (e.g. a mission that starts at twilight/sundown should assume that things are still relatively warm and should begin bleeding off, versus one that starts before/around sunrise and should start warming up). A track or the specific miz you were flying in would help for us to see the specific conditions.

I don't have the miz but can replicate if needed, however it was a dawn strike, just as the sun was visible over the horizon, in mid December and temps where around 15c I think it was. I would assume any warming during the previous day would have gone by morning.
