Gronank Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 In the manual, on the topic of Rocket/ Gun pod attack profile, there's this description: The word "latest" usually refers to a time, not a range. But because the plane is a moving object, I parsed the meaning to be "closest" because that's where the plane would be at the latest while travelling through the firing range and that therefore the shooting que was also somehow also the pullup que. "Furthest" would be much more clear here.
MYSE1234 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I'd argue "latest" is a perfectly cromulent word in this context. That's the word used in the real manuals, but in Swedish... Viggen is love. Viggen is life. 7800X3D | RTX 4070 Ti S | 64GB 6000MHz RAM |
Dragon1-1 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 It's not likely to be understood correctly, though. It's a direct translation from Swedish, which isn't the best idea. Better to translate it as furthest.
MYSE1234 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 "Furthest" as in furthest from what? Viggen is love. Viggen is life. 7800X3D | RTX 4070 Ti S | 64GB 6000MHz RAM |
Naquaii Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 The reason for it being latest is because we're talking time here, not distance.
Machalot Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 In this case latest means closest to the target, right? "Subsonic is below Mach 1, supersonic is up to Mach 5. Above Mach 5 is hypersonic. And reentry from space, well, that's like Mach a lot."
