MRTX Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 I just wanted to suggest adding the feature of the TADS showing the MGRS its looking at and the zulu time. The only problem i have is not being sure if this is either accurate for our software version or if its just a feature of the recording but not actually shown to the CPG. Maybe some of you have a better insight on this, any info to clarify would be awesome. (the picture is from an engagement in Afghanistan 2009)
ED Team Raptor9 Posted November 2, 2022 ED Team Posted November 2, 2022 That's simply from the recording. It's never visible in the video source in the aircraft. Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. DCS Rotor-Head

What would be nice is an implementation of the ‘Recording’ HAD message and associated TEDAC record button…It wouldn’t need to actually do anything, a fake message if you like, but for SOP / role play could be a nice low effort addition. Not sure if you can suggest it Raptor? Thanks.
AirSenpai Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 At the current time of 14 seconds on Casmo's video. The E model ( has newer tech than the D blk II) that he later explains that has this FUSED mode, has this "tape" function to show time and coordinates. Watching these old tads footage from specially this one from 2009 period leads me to believe its the 2002 BLK II version we have in sim that have been replacing the older A model. MOST US ARMY and ISAF D models were probably from 1995 (1997 delivered) (might not have the ownship coordinates on tads/pnvs) And the D block 2 might have been introduced in combat shortly after 2006-2007 time frame to replace the A model. (correct me if i am wrong). The A models were still being used and probably did not had that function (not sure/can't prove it). The following video was published in 2011 but might have been used from 2002~2007 era: https://www.military.com/video/ah-64-korengal-valley-oef/959787997001 I found his book on his memories here he talks about the 2005 combat year on Korengal Valley: nullhttps://www.amazon.com/South-Heaven-My-Year-Afghanistan/dp/1462024386 Ps: (there was a time when i were younger and i would know most of these information and do most of the guess work + public available info. (many videos from CPT ALI, other US army pilots and UK pilots got terminated or deleted/removed, wikileaks videos were also removed from youtube and wikileaks itself was terminated). edit:
ED Team Raptor9 Posted February 23, 2023 ED Team Posted February 23, 2023 @AirSenpai, please see the second post in this thread. Threads merged, and please do not post videos of real people being killed, regardless of the circumstances. Let's stick to the simulation aspect of Digital Combat Simulator. Thanks.
