Raddy Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 I got the hornet and supercarrier modules and I've been doing both the single player campaign and practicing carrier landing missions. The problem is that the carrier never responds to any of my ATC calls. I'm using the radio menu and every other menu item (wingmen, tanker, AWACS, and ground based ATC) responds to calls, but not the carrier. Then, when I land, I get no grade because of no proper communications. Am I missing something?
mcnabb100 Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 You need to set the radio frequency of the carrier in the mission editor if you are making your own missions. You then need to tune one of your aircraft radios to that frequency and transmit with that radio.
Raddy Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 I'm using prebuilt missions and I've verified that the COM1 frequency is set to the frequency of the carrier.
CBStu Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I am flying similar to you w/ similar results. I have found that I need to set the carrier channel in one of the radios since this is not always done by the mission or campaign creators. Or it may be on radio 2 channel 3 and I just miss it. But I usually get a return call giving me carrier course, some other data and an ask to call a 'see you at 10' which I do. Then they say to switch to tower or something (which I don't do) but seems to happen automatically at 4,5 miles. I always get the no 'proper communications though' and at this point I just don't worry about it. If you would like scoring re; your approach and trap, I recommend Banklers Case 1 Recovery mission. It is fantastic.
Zodiacc Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) If easy comm is not allowed in ME. You have to use correct hotas mic command in order to get response. You can also check R-Shift + K to get frequencies, tacan, datalink, icls etc. Edited November 3, 2022 by Zodiacc
Raddy Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) I'm not using the mission editor, I'm doing the missions that come included with the hornet/supercarrier module. Every other menu item on the comm list responds except the carrier. I've checked the comms and it's already preset to the frequency listed in the mission briefing. Edited November 3, 2022 by Raddy
rob10 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 This *shouldn't* be the issue, but try switching the preset off the carrier preset, then back, then press the ENTER button on the UFC. I know that in at least one campaign you have to press ENTER at some points to get the frequency recognized. I think that is mainly due to the custom ATC in it, but worth a shot.

That will sort it out for ya. It's not documented in the brief, but that's what they're on. I'll send a bug report up the chain to get that fixed, hopefully. 2 My Youtube Channel MY DCS MISSIONS
