Hello,

So seeking some advice. I have the opportunity to get some Rtx 3090 second hand gpu; with less than 1 year of use no mining and 2 year warranty, for around 850/900€, also it's possible to get an Rx 6950 xt new for 945€.

My main use will be DCS in vr in the reverb g2, other games I play does not require strong gpus so I just want the best card for the vr experience in DCS.

Also i will look tonight in case AMD rx 7000 turns out to be affordable (don't want to spend >1700 €).

What are your thoughts guys ?

BTW I'm upgrading from a 1080ti

Regards,

Pay Attention to the AMD Power supply requirements. My RX 6900XT NEED a 18 pin power cable Flux Capacitator 1.21 gigawatts to run 1000w power supply to power everything in my computer. AMD;s Video software is okay but I'm NOT impressed with it. Pay Attention to what PCIe slot you run version wise on your motherboard. Research this stuff to compare what you have in your system.

RTX3090 is what I'd recommend in your case, because it is noticeably better than RX6900XT for higher resolutions (VR and 4K), and the drivers software will be imediately familiar to you (no use transition adaptation issues). The former is worth a higher price than the latter.

Not sure where you're located but the used prices you mention seem a bit inflated. Check local used markets but, most of all, give attention to EBAY listings on those GPUs models you look for, from top rated sellers (important there). In there, some are accepting offers below what you mention, and there also auction biddings going (yes, they're a drag, but worth it if you're active and patient).

Thanks for the help guys.

I finally grabbed an Evga rtx 3090 Ftw3 for 899€, one that has been barely used (3 months old), and since I will grab it from a small PC components store they can invoice me the card as new to activate a 3 year warranty from evga.

I'm located in Spain, given we have a 21% VAT 899€ is actually a good price I think, an rtx 3090 brand new is at 1300€ the lowest I can find in any online store, and in Amazon prices are ridicously high (I've see rtx 3090 at 2000€ :(! )

Regarding PSU and MB I have a 1000w HX1000 from corsair and a ROG STRIX b550-f gaming, I hope both will be OK for the new gpu once it arrives.

Sorry to say EVGA announced they are shutting down All Video Card production. Not making Video Cards after a fall out with Nvidia. You can look it up on Gamers Nexus. They make a very Good Card so I am sure you will be very happy with it and it will be trouble free. EVGA is a big name it was a shock to hear this.

yeah I was aware of that, but I understand that will not affect the warranty of their already produced cards.

I'm fine if they send me the same card had mine has a problem(fingers crossed I don't need it).

Yes, I'm located in Portugal and it's the same problem here (I think as it'll be for most of the E.U.), makes perfect sense what you describe.

That's same as new, and therefore not a bad deal at all.
EVGA is worth it in the case of RTX3000 series because of the best warranties and post-sale services in the GPU business (for already produced cards), even if they're no longer producing new Nvidia GPUs.  👍👍
