Gierasimov Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 1 vs. 1 over Guam, player in Hornet and Ace in Flanker D. Gun safe, flying, making him defensive, he ejected. I was getting the same result for three times in a row. In debriefing, "ai abort mission" was logged, then ejection, and then crash as normal. First time he did that when he was getting on my six, we were below 800 feet over Guam, so I thought he crashed into something. But debrief log showed only "ai abort mission". Second time I had him in front, high. Third time I was getting on his six ~15 degrees nose down. All three times no track - as it was too long. So I edited the mission. 1. ai abort mission - when he flew really close to me - I thought he had killed me too by colliding, but Hornet was intact. - track attached. 2. Ejected but ai abort mission was not logged - I did not shoot him. - track attached. (about 7 minutes unfortunately) - its not easy to get him to do it FlankerD-Eject.trk Flanker-DClipped.log Flanker-DEject.log FlankerD-Clipped.trk Intel i7-13700KF :: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 :: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
Gierasimov Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) Ok... watched the tracks myself lol. Yeah, DCS Replay system is a big "I wish" item. As if it never happened... Eject - track plays that he killed me Clipped - track plays that he did not eject... Logs show what really happened though Edited November 4, 2022 by Gierasimov 1 Intel i7-13700KF :: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 :: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
Dragon1-1 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Are you sure he didn't run out of gas? After a dogfight this long it's a real risk.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 4, 2022 ED Team Posted November 4, 2022 Hi its very possible he has either run out of fuel or can not reach a safe airfield Forum rules - DCS Crashing? But those three initial times, it happened at around 25-35 minutes into the flight, here the same happened in less than 7 minutes. We do this BFM above red coalition air base. I will add RTB on bingo and see what happens. Previously, when AI ran out of fuel, "engine shutdown" message would be logged in debrief. Solution Grimes Posted November 5, 2022 Solution Posted November 5, 2022 After watching the track I am of the opinion it is fuel related. I added a script to display its fuel value, and though time acceleration changed the results of the track enough of the dogfight progressed for me to think it is fuel. For starters the Su-33 gets assigned 50% fuel so it can take off from the Kuznetzov short ramps, its gonna make it to bingo faster. First un-modified track it just gave up and flew to the last waypoint. Second run with the fuel output it got down to 20% fuel and shot you down after extending north. First track went on for a bit more so it is safe to assume it had somewhere less than 20% total fuel capacity. It helps the AI if it has a takeoff or landing base assigned as part of the flight plan. IIRC without an airbase assigned it doesn't know or think about where it can RTB to in an emergency until that happens. Think of it as the AI know they have a route of X distance, but ultimately know they are going to a specific destination that is Y distance from their current location. Giving it more fuel and adding a landing waypoint would help. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
