Johnny Dioxin Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Hi - the review isn't mine, it was just the only one I could find, apart from a few comments on reddit. My offer got accepted this morning, so I've bought the pedals for £170. They told me I should have them within 9 days, though the official delivery date is end of January. I've been looking for some good pedals that don't cost a mint for a long time now - though my Mad Catz Cessna Pro's are good with helicopters once I adapted my technique - they are hopeless with anything else. Maybe I will find these far better with rotaries, as others who bought them have experienced. When you buy from the acknowledged brands in this game, you always get a brand name courtesy percentage, for want of a better description (can't think of the word I want, with my morning after Christmas day thick head). But these are looking every bit as useful and durable. Time will tell. Johnny Dioxin Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I just found an earlier review by the same guy, claiming that they don't work in DCS World - and someone said that because of that they won't buy it! When I try to get the link for the video, it just gives the link to the one I already posted (it's the same guy). YouTube at its worst. Don't know what he's up to. I should have mine by the 29th and will let you know how it goes, I'm very skeptical when it comes to Chinese made crap, fingers crossed. 1
Johnny Dioxin Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I know what you mean, mate. I just ordered a face gasket for the Pico 4 and I just know the padding is going to stink of synthetic chemical yuk. Good job I have lots of spare pads for other headsets. jg777 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Just received these, put them together in 10Min or so. Have to say I'm quite impressed with these pedals, sooo smooth and solid, then again these are my first pedals, wanted to stay away from the overpriced plastic ones. I'm very happy with these Pii's review is right on.
Johnny Dioxin Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) Did anyone have to pay duty on these pedals? Just thought of that. I think the UK has a trade agreement with China which means certain product imports are duty-free (which probably explains why I've been getting masks that say "mobile phone accessories" on the label!), but I don't know what's covered - have to try and find out. My replacement Index controllers have been stuck at customs for several days - those are from the US though, and it may be due to strikes. update: Seems the answer is yes, probably. An item over £135 imported to the UK is liable to customs charges of 2.5% depending on the item (and unfortunately, this is where it gets muddy). I've not been able to find a definitive list of what gets charged for - or whether a payment is also due to the courier for paying customs on my behalf. No wonder so many people get ripped off by scam couriers and importers! Johnny Dioxin Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Damn! Mine has just arrived (10 days after the date I'd been given) and it's waiting at the local depot - for me to pay the £46.08 import charge to HMRC I'm glad I offered less than the asking price, but I should have made it a lot less. This puts the total price at over £220 and that's getting towards branded equipment price. It had better be darned good. edit: I just went to my ebay account to find a message claiming that they had tried to deliver it yesterday morning, with an exact time quoted. This is total rubbish - both my wife and I were at home at the time, plus my dog goes ape every time anyone comes up the drive. The seller had also assured me the pedals would be here by 19th January (which I didn't believe anyway). This seller should be avoided. There are more than one selling these rudder pedals, so choose wisely - though ebay isn't trustworthy in any case as far as reputations go, - I've been unable to give any bad rep to sellers for years, despite some pretty shocking behaviour by some. They also still haven't closed an account I had and tried to close over 15 years ago - I can still sign in and all my personal info is still there - but if I try to do anything I get a "this account is being closed" message, and if I send ebay a message about it I get zero response. If only there were a viable alternative for many items I want to buy. There are tons of them on Ebay. I did look for a shipper in the US to avoid large shipping fee from China and my seller was prompt and shipped early, I might have gotten lucky. I was a little worried when I saw his store was name something like junk autos <-that's not the real name but it was something equally worrisome. Well let us know what you think once you get some time in on them. Good luck
Johnny Dioxin Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Thanks - I did have a good look around for one based in the UK or Europe, but couldn't find any. Oh well. At least it's arriving on my birthday - so hopefully a nice present to myself! Johnny Dioxin Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) It just arrived - right after breakfast and opening my cards! Perfect timing UK charges were explained on a sticker - the large part of the charge was VAT (@20%). There are no instructions at all, which is pretty unacceptable for a device of this price. Yes, I'll work out how to put it together, but tips on adjustments etc would have been very useful, at the least. It's a lot smaller than I expected - no bad thing. PS - I know I'm probably sounding overly negative and very cautious, but I'm actually quite excited and looking forward to fiddling with it - I'm still just pissed off about the charges! Johnny Dioxin Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Update: Yes, they are excellent. Spent yesterday flying around Cyprus in the helicopters and the control was outstanding. Also for fixed-wing aircraft, much more straight-line stability whilst taking off and landing than I've had with my Mad Catz Cessna Pro pedals. Not only that, I didn't have to reassign a single thing in DCS World. Was highly surprised to find that the pedals had been correctly assigned automatically to every module! Zyll Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Hey guys, any concerns with the fact that your heels are flat on the floor, and not raised on blocks like the T-Rudder and Ace Torq pedals? Do you find that you need to extend your legs out to comfortably use these, or they are fine closer to your office chair? Certainly interested, the dampener is a big selling feature, just a little cautious.Edit: oh also has anyone pulled the springs for helo use, and how is the experience there?Zyll @ TAW

Grenadey Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Glad I found this thread - very hard to find much else out on the inter webs about these. I've just ordered mine from Amazon.uk with damper for £220, which ties in with average eBay price + customs duty. Ordered 12th Jan - Estimated delivery 25th Jan - 1st Feb. I'll report back if delivery estimate was accurate and my initial feelings also. Oh, and here's the link on Amazon.UK if anyone is considering these. Logitech G940 (modded), 2 x crappy Dell 1024x768 monitors for ShKval, ABRIS etc. TrackIR 3, Trackclip Pro.

Grenadey Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 They arrived on 31st Jan. Very easy to put together, recognised by Windows/DCS with no problems. I'm very impressed with the accuracy and having the damper is a game changer for flying helicopters. I removed the spring and replaced it with an elastic band as I found the spring was a bit too strong. I'll hunt down a weaker one to replace the elastic band. The only real criticism I'd have is that with the damper turned up they do lift off the floor a bit when pressing the pedals. To combat this (I have a carpeted floor under my desk) I just laid a strip of heavy duty velcro and then put the hook-side of the velcro on the aluminium bar. Now they stay put and I can also put them away when not in use. I've had Saitek, and both the TCM and TPR Thrustmaster pedals in the past and these are my favourite for helicopter flying (and I can just turn the damper down for fixed wing). Pii, if you hadn't posted that review I wouldn't have got these. So, thank you, your service is appreciated! ;) Toad, Shark, Huey and Mi-8 driver. 27" iMac 3.4Ghz i7, 16GB DDR3, 2GB 680MX .
