104th_Crunch Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I could never get the manual range to function properly in A2G Radar GM DBS2 mode, or any mode. I am wondering if I am missing something. In Wags's Air-to-Ground Radar tutorial, he is in GM mode, DBS2, then selects the OBS currently showing 'MANUAL' to select Manual mode. The label under the OBS changes to display AUTO after it's switched. The yardstick (circled in red below) changes length, the zoom level (scale) of the radar picture changes. I can only get the entire range scale to change, and not zoom in. How do you get this yardstick to consistently change distance? Can anyone do it currently, or previously? Thanks! null
104th_Crunch Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) Thanks. Hope it's sorted soon. Edited November 18, 2022 by 104th_Crunch
104th_Crunch Posted November 18, 2022 Author Posted November 18, 2022 As a side note, the TGP following the FCR and vice versa is a very nice addition!
ED Team Lord Vader Posted November 18, 2022 ED Team Posted November 18, 2022 Hi, @104th_Crunch Previously, when you were in EXP, DBS1 and DBS2 and you changed the radar ranges, it used to change the picture size, but this wasn't correct. When you attempt to change the radar range manually and you are in EXP, DBS1, DBS2 modes, the radar must come back to NORM expansion. This fix was added back in July. Wags video was done befores these changes, unfortunately. 1 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord

Well, these are already expanded modes, the DBS ones with high sharpening ratios. I don't think you can expand them further. If you have public information that the picture size can be changed, please send via PM to @BIGNEWY Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord

Thank you for the clarification. This has been changed for accuracy, and there are no additional zoom levels currently known for the version of the Viper in DCS. Got it!
Maverick Su-35S Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Hi! Did anyone talk about the angle coverage (10, 30, 60 degrees) when in any other mode than NORM, such as EXP, DBS1/2? Whenever I change to those modes, the number of scanned degrees remains at a fixed value (dunno which one), although only in EXP when you press the angles button, the numbers change from 1 to 3 to 6, but nothing actually changes about the scan itself. Only the horizontal antenna sweep indicator moves in according to the three scan angles limits, but the visual picture remains stuck on the same angle and the scan rate also remains intact and these things happening to me are totally different from that video from Wags. Track: F-16 AG radar doesn't change scanning angles and scan times in EXP, DBS1&2.trk I may be doing something wrong, yet I don't guess what. I cannot change the scan rate or scan angles in DBS modes. Bug or what? Many thanks! When you can't prove something with words, let the math do the talking. I have an insatiable passion for helping simulated aircraft fly realistically. Don't underestimate my knowledge before understanding what I talk about! Sincerely, your flight model reviewer/advisor.

I wasn't talking about resolution! How did you get there? Whenever you use NORM, you can change the scan angle. Whenever you are in EXP, only the 1,3,6 appears when pressing the OSB for changing the angle, but the simulated scan angles remain untouched at 60 degrees. Whenever you are in DBS1/2, now the button for changing angles doesn't change anything anymore, while the angle remains stuck at 60 degrees or at least it remains stuck with the scanning time for a 60 degrees scan angle! Was this good enough? Anyway, you have the track which explains everything about these AG radar bugs. When you can't prove something with words, let the math do the talking. Was this good enough? Anyway, you have the track which explains everything about these AG radar bugs. And that is correct. I spoke of resolution in this context because the system already tries to deliver the best possible Pic in this area and takes the time it needs. It is therefore not possible or sensible to adjust the azimuth. That's why I sent the link where I go into it and add videos to illustrate it. Zitat This is shown in DCS as follows in EXP/DBS1 mode it is always One-fourth of the selected range. from 10 range scale you see a square of 2.5nm 20>5 40>10 80>20(not for DBS) DBS2 is from 1nm to max ~7nm, depending on selected scale. But I will look at the track again and test it myself maybe I have overlooked something Edited September 12, 2024 by Hobel
