I just saw a Black Shark promo vid where the pilot took a couple puffs and flicked his smoke out the door before closing it. Can this be enabled in the real game? At the end of the video was a set of....legs ;) can that be enabled too...lol :music_whistling:

Here's the vid..

Great video, but I don't think (hardly) any of that was actually in game. I wish we had effects like that in DCS. Those explosions were AMAZING! It makes things feel much more exciting to have visual effects like that.

That's hard for me to believe, seeing as how I have graphics maxed out and more than competent hardware. Maybe you're just not seeing the difference. It's not dramatically different in the video, but the effects are definately more lively and varied. Also, the AI seems to be alot more active than what I've seen and heard others comment on.

I was referring to the vehicles taking evasive action when fired upon, instead of sitting like fish in a barrel...

I'm getting the sense that people are going on the defensive about my comment. There's no reason for that, I'm not complaining about the game. Like I said, it's not a black and white difference, and I could be completely mistaken, I don't know.

If you're referring to that Abrams in the beginning, I think all it's doing is driving off road to avoid the burning hulk on the road ahead of it, just as the AI will currently do.

This video was made waaay back when black shark was intended to be another add-on for lockon (hence, you see the a-10 being flown as well). Lots of special effects and video editing were used and a few lockon specific tricks were employed as well. Anything you take from this video cannot be applied to the final black shark production...

As for vehicles supposedly taking evasive action, I suppose you're refering to the spot at 20 seconds and again at 4:38? When you have a convoy, and you blow up one of the vehicles at the front, all of the other vehicles will continue straight until they get to the one that blew up and then they will go around that vehicle to continue with their waypoints. That is all you are seeing. A vehicles was destroyed and the vehicle directly behind it turned left (his left, our right) to go around that vehicle. There is no evasive action in DCS:BS. There are only stationary targets, and targets that move in straight lines...;)

As for the explosions and such being somehow larger than they are in DCS, there is a way (config file, i believe) to change the size and duration of fires after an explosion...As for anything else you may imply about this video...It's called sony vegas, and it's one helluva video editing program. (Although it costs an arm and a leg, it's totally worth it.)

One final note: read the description for the video:

A recent technology demonstrator video from the third installment of Lock On: Blackshark featuring the russian Ka-50 Black Shark helicopter("vertalot").

Thank you for confirming that special effects were added. The AI was a bit of a stretch I suppose, especially since it was only a few seconds of video. The movement just seemed less automated and mechanical, or as I said, more "lively." But that could also be because I never look at tanks that close up when I'm firing upon them.
