Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Hi, I installed the simulator just fine. But when I double click the desktop shortcut, I see the load screen and this error message. Any idea? looks like files are missing, but the installation went without a glitch. cheers
ED Team Groove Posted January 16, 2009 ED Team Posted January 16, 2009 Did you tried a re-install? Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) I did yes. And even turned off my antivirus. Could it be a problem with the downloaded files? seemed to install fine though. Why are these files missing? my specs are : WinXP SP3 Pentium D 3.2ghz 2g Ram Geforce 8800GT 512mb Edited January 16, 2009 by Plum
Airway Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Are you using Windows Vista? Then try another installation folder.
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Im on WinXP32 SP3 I'll try to install to a different folder. Thats the fourth time I reinstall. :(
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 I tried to install in a "\ka-50" folder. That didnt help. When I start the DCS multiplayer, it crashes saying DCS.exe caused an error, etc. I've got a "setup.exe" and "data1 zip" file in the same folder. The installation proceeds normally. I can see the loading screen, until the error message pops up, and when I click ok, it quits. Its the english downloadable version of the game on the DCS website. Any idea from the developpers? I just paid over £30 for this. My pc is fine, I've got other games installed, everything runs fine. Really frustrated.

Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Yes, I use the desktop shortcut. It doesnt work, and neither the startup link under "all programs".
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 The "BlackShark.lua" is there, but all those "me_failures.lua" are missing in their respective folders.
DarkWanderer Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I tried to install in a "\ka-50" folder. That didnt help. drive:\Program Files\Ka-50 or simply drive:\Ka-50? You want the best? Here i am...
ED Team Groove Posted January 16, 2009 ED Team Posted January 16, 2009 Put the file into your \BlackShark\ folder unzip it first :)me_failures.rar Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 @DarkWanderer - I installed it in C:\ka-50 (before it was in the default C:\Programfiles\...etc. @Groove - You mean I create a C:\BlackShark folder? then unzip the dat1.cab in there with the setup.exe? and install it? thx for trying to help guys.
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Oh sorry Groove, didnt see you attached the file. I'll try. Thanks
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Ok, I tried to put that me_failures.lua in the \BlackShark\ folder but it still gives me the same error message. I then tried to put copies of that same .lua file in all the folders the error message mentionned. (luagi5, luaSerializer, etc.) if you look at the 1st screenshot I posted, its missing me_failures.dll files as well. Anyway, I appreciate the help, but why isnt the installer doing all this properly? thanks.
Plum Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 So...is this only happening to me?? I read a lot of issues with the launcher on this forum. Can I, at least, get those missing files? Just bought this game today...for nothing...It cant be my pc if there's clearly files missing.. I've downloaded and installed the game following the small info there is! Check again the error pic on my first post. I hope this issue gets resolved soon, I feel I ve been robbed at the moment.

Plum Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) @GF_Mastiff : No, Just paid and downloaded the 2 files from DCS website. Then put them in same folder, then installed it. So far so good, just when I double click the desktop icon, it loads the splash screen for 5 secs, then error pops up. Now if its an issue with starforce, I dont know. Its possible I installed other games before with the same copy protection system. Would that cause an issue? EDIT: deleted starforce drivers I had on the pc with the starforce removal tool. Re-installed black shark, still doesnt work. Edited January 17, 2009 by Plum

Re-installed black shark, still doesnt work. one should be a setup .exe (1,731,296kb) the other data1,zip (918,936). is that what you got? I separated my install into another drive and did not place the data1,setup.exe into the same folder. try not installing all the data into same folder (don't place the setupexe and the data1 into the destination folder as the install). Also check your disk space. Edited January 17, 2009 by Mastiff "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. Plum Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 @GF_Mastiff: Thanks for trying to help. I can see something odd here. I've got a setup.exe and dat1.zip in a folder on my hard drive. (not same folder as game install). My dat1.zip is 918,936 KB and setup.exe is 1,371,296 KB Yours is 1,731,296 KB ?? Whats going on here? [EDIT: oh, did you mispell that? 731 instead of 371?] These 2 files were downloaded from the DCS website after I made the payment. I downloaded the setup.exe a few times from the different mirrors, and always ended up the same size. My disk space is fine, 38+ gig left cheers

Plum Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 @GF_Mastiff - installed it under safe mode. Then back into normal windows, still doesnt work. oh, and btw, the technical support email doesnt work. It bounced back twice for me. great! I just played the demo of lock on air combat and installed full IL-2 on my pc. both run fine, no issues at all. Im not gonna bother anymore. They better fix this thing soon. And I guess I'll never see a refund. :(
Slayer Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I'd try redownloading the data file again, it's worth a shot. the only way to tell if it's not corrupted is if it has like a MD5 checksum. They didn't include one for this download so it could be corrupted even if the filesize is correct. In fact I had one of the files corrupted on me , got all kinds of weird problems like you then redownloaded both setup file/data file and it was all good. Plum Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks guys, I havnt completely abandonned this software. I was just going to leave it aside, until something new happened on the developpers side. I ll try redownloading the data file (I downloaded the setup.exe a few times already). The data file is a cab file, but it display on my pc as a winzip file, thats ok isnt it? I've got 2gig of ram. My paging file is set to custom : initial size 3070mb max size: 4092mb I ve setup the paging file to "system managed size" then rebooted. didnt change a thing. I ll try turning it off completely as well. Sounds more likely like a corrupted file, as all my other games work fine.
