Glad you got the tabs working, although it sounds like you had to do more than you should have. It sounds like possibly the 'Finish' process, as one does it after each update, need to be repeated; that should give you all the keywords (including 'kneeboard') without having to add any manually. If you're unsure of the process, p38 (it's acually 39 in my PDF reader) of the manual covers it. Page 45 (46 in my PDF reader) deals with the interactive kneeboard as well.

I think, I've done that. I used the Editor tab and the test button of the VAICOM GUI. And it found 500 missing keywords. I've inserted them like instructed, and they are definitely there. But still, they don't seem to work. With my custom commands, I can switch between the different tabs of the VAICOM kneeboard. But the "kneeboard" command (it's definitely in the list) doesn't want to work. It brings the message in Voice Attack that it got recognised, and it's waiting for further input. I might add a screenshot later.

What is your version number (bottom of the ‘About’ tab)? When you are in-game, does the ‘PTT’ tab.show the module you’re currently flying?

My version number is 2.8.1.1. In game, the PTT tab looks like this (screenshot).

Essentually, it seems as if any kneeboard voice command leads to VA waitng for additional input.

Thanks for that info.

I'm afraid this is beyond my ken. as it seems to be related to the way Vaicom functions and interacts with DCS. It's probably best if you speak directly to the guys who maintain and update the Community Edition of Vaicom Pro, you can contact them via their Discord.

Sorry I couldn't figure this out for you.

Thanks a lot for your help, it's really appreciated!

I've given up to get it working, at least for now. Speech recognition doesn't work great either, although I've set the system language and speech recognition to English, and trained it several times. My English is not that bad, and still, only 1 command out of 5 gets recognised. I've spent the whole day now trying to get it working. I'm done for now. 😉

That does sound like plenty of work for one day. When/if you start working on it again, something I’m half-remembering (so this might not be accurate)… I think some people had to say “page” as part of the command to switch (eg “AWACS page”), and I think there was a setting that governed whether the word “page” was required… Anyhow, if you haven’t tried that it might be worth a shot, if it works please reply and I’ll try to find the switch to abbreviate the command.

Re the sensitivity of speech recognition, sadly Microsoft is to blame for that, so I’m skeptical about the prospects of that improving much in the short term. I’m a native English speaker with a somewhat unusual accent, and despite training the speech engine it often either doesn’t understand a word or mistakes it for another word.

I'll definitely give it another go. Because from what I've seen, this looks like a very handy and immersive tool for DCS! 😉

I have added ordinary VoiceAttack commands to open/close the kneeboard as the VAICOM ones struggle from time to time.

To open/switch pages you have to say "Tanker page" etc.
Except for the two special pages like "show log" and "Show notes".

Cheers!

What do I have to assign to the command to be able to create a custom command for opening the kneeboard?

Edit: Disregard. It comes up with a default DCS binding, right? So I can just create a custom command in VA that executes "right shift & K" as keystrokes, I guess.

Correct, sorry for not being clear about that.

VAICOM does not do any "cockpit commands" as of now.

I got it going! 😀👍 Thanks a ton guys! Now, let's jump into the cockpit and learn what it can do.

Coming to this late. First of all "recognized" in the log means that VoiceAttack recognized the word. It does not mean that VoiceAttack knows what to do with it, or that the command was passed to VAICOM. To see whether VAICOM is getting the command it would be helpful if you would turn on debugging and then post the log after you've had some trouble. Personally, I leave debugging turned on all the time since it adds only minor overhead. Second, if you were missing 500 commands then you definitely had not properly done the "Finish" step in the installation instructions.

Thanks a lot for taking the time and leaving an answer. I don't doubt at all that I've missed a (or several) step, or did something wrong during install. But there were many things going on, and I became a bit tired and unfocused along the way. However, it's working now. And what I've discovered so far, is pretty amazing. 😉

Another thought...did you program a PTT switch for "Transmit TX1 release (voice disabled)"  I think if you don't program this in the config, then after you press your PTT button and say something, it won't know to "release" the PTT when you release it and thus it is still "waiting for additional input" because it doesn't know you have released the TX PTT button.

Just a thought without anything in front of me right now...

Thx for your input! Yeah, I've got that set up correctly. I've got it working, but still, voice recognition is not working too great. But I guess, I can get used to it. 😉

One more thing though: the blue font on the kneeboard for the things that got read back (from JTAC, ATC, etc.) is too big. I can only read one half of it. Why is that?

Hi everyone,

I am able to get the interactive kneeboard working (MT last OB) but when I say for exemple "show notes" like in a youtube video, although both keywords are correctly reconised, the kneeboard doesn't switch to the "notes" tab like in the tutorial... Can someone confirm that it is working this way ? What am I doing wrong ?

By the way, it's not clear to me if the interractive kneeboard works in MP ?

Thanks
