Buznee Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 It seems DCS renders the water even if you are over land, I'd like to be able to turn the water down to simple texture mode to improve fps. I did check the FAQs and there is this article describes the process. "Some graphics options can be set in the options.lua file found in the \...\BlackShark\data\scripts folder. Specifically, you can change water to either '1' (low setting) or '0' (texture only). " http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=572304&postcount=35 The English version seems to have different file structure and I cannot find that file. I did find a file called graphics.cfg in the config folder. Found a section in it stating "WaterQuality = 0;" Is this the setting for miminum texture? With this setting, it still seems to render the water is some kind of medium setting. Thanks in Advance! :)

Thus, on ground only views the comp has to render full screen water underneath? What an FPS waster. No wonder water on high kills the fps so much. You have to render the helos, a city and all its objects and full on water (that doesn't even show) all at the same time. Whew!
Boberro Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Yes, 0 is texture level, but I advice to get mod for water. I use one from Lock on, which is compatible (I didn't notice any problems). This mod is called "Medium ultra high water mod *huge fps boost*", made by hawg11 can be downloaded at Lockonfiles.com. I don't give link coz registration is needed. Water looks like on medium-high but you don't loose FPS (or 1-2 compared to default method). Majesco Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Medium water in DCS = High water in LOFC and High = Very High So, can we change from Medium to Low in DCS to increase fps ? ps: Now i choose Medium and the value of "water" in options.lua = 2 Edited January 18, 2009 by Majesco
