skeemo Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hi, when i initiate a manual hover and hit the autohover button to let the autopilot manage the hover i cannot change heading. when i apply rudder e.g. to the left and turn about 40° then after returning the rudder to center the KA50 turns back to it's original heading.. :joystick: how come this ?
Scif Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 The way i overcome this is once in auto hover and stable, if i want to turn to another heading i disable heading hold AP, move to the new heading, trim and then enable heading hold AP, in some cases dont have to trim if u keep it smooth. GGTharos Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Because the heading channel will hold heading. To set a new heading press the trim button. Edit: Disabling the heading hold channel = you're doing it wrong. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
smoke218 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 once you've turned to your desired position, click and release the trim button to hold the chopper in its new position.
Scif Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 ahh that maybe the wrong way, but i find it a lot more stable after doing it, trim doesnt always work the way it's intended i feel at times. Plus another thing i tend to do now is not use auto hover, trimming to a near stop makes good practice without the Auto Hover ;) Asus P8P67-M Pro, i7 2600K@4.6Ghz, 4gb Vengence Ram, Gainward GTX 580 3gb Phantom, Win7 64 Ultimate, Warthog Control System. Fish Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Another way is switch on the Shkval, with heading hold on, then slew the target designator box left or right outside the hud bounds. AP works to bring the body of the KA so the TD box is again within the HUD. If its targeting or searching that you are needing do to then this is a good way. Ka remains pretty stable throughout this process. Shaman Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Because the heading channel will hold heading. To set a new heading press the trim button. Edit: Disabling the heading hold channel = you're doing it wrong. ;) Hm, when I do this..things go wild, because as soon you turn to new heading, you must hold it by applying corresponding pedal (otherwise Shark shark tries to turn back to previous hdg).. so at that moment you hold hdg with pedal, you press the trim button, and Shark starts to spin and target heading is lost even more. It is sooo frustrating. I also prefer doing it the wrong way (channel disable or flight director on) then the annoying way. GGTharos Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Try holding the trim button down at the start of your turn, and letting it go when you've settled on desired heading. skeemo Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 ok cool thanks for your tips i will try which method fits best for me :)
FedEx Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Ok remember when you rudder to point your nose in a different direction and then hit the trim button, you will be held there at times, now if you look by pressing Ctrl Enter you will see that your rudders are not center. And any input in your joystick can take you on a new dance lesson. "Sping Like Crazy" I found that out the hard way. What i do is when i want to point my nose in a different direction i rudder a bit pass the intended point and release the pressure of the rudders and hit trim. It works for me and my rudder will remain center incase I need to run out of there ;). Also if you going to fast there are forces in this earth that wont let you achived the required results. :) Edited January 19, 2009 by FedEx I don't know! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Before you warn me, make sure you have help first and succeded in doing so.
nemises Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Or trim to the new loacation, and then recenter the rudders (using ctrl-enter) and trim again... easier yet is to press-hold the trim buttom, and only release trim when you are pointed in the desired heading and your rudders are centered.
PoleCat Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 ^^^^^ Definitely the latter is best way for me. Thanks Nem! Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
ruprecht Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Remember too that the current AP stored heading is shown on the HSI. When you retrim, you'll see it flip round to the current heading.
