ericinexile Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 armed or not, manual or auto, bombs of all 4 types arent detonating on impact after being jettisoned....there doesnt seem to be any collision detection. i.e. they just go through the tank and ground without a sound. tried from 350 and 1050 meters. i cant forget the 'hover over target' now i found jettisoning isnt working :)...i just gotta know what the jettison arming switch is for...i just gotta... i'll try higher... Jettisoned weapons DON'T arm. It's that way for a reason--so you don't kill little kids playing in the school yard just because you need to get light fast. Falling 250-500kg objects can still kill, but lethal radius will be much smaller.:smilewink: Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
braden Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 hey i agree with the politics, but how about someone answer my question...whats with the jettison arming button both in the cockpit AND in the manual. i quote from english manual: item13 from the centre panel: “ВЗР – НЕ ВЗР” (Armed/Disarmed weapon jettison arming switch). This switch determines if the weapon will be armed prior to being jettisoned. "ВЗР" = armed, "НЕ ВЗР" = disarmed for jettison. [LALT + LSHIFT + W]

ZaltysZ Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 The point is not to jettison stuff when you want to use it for killing. Why you do want to jettison (throw away) bombs? Use fire button as you do for other weapons to fire. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
ericinexile Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 So working CCIP pipper if you wish! :D Thank you . But please try the setup I explained on the page previous to this one. It could be that my downloaded copy of DCS is the only one in existance with a perfectly operable CCIP pipper--in which case I'd like to know. Have you tried to use this piper to drop FAB-250 or FAB-500 from let's say 800m? Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.

ericinexile Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Have you tried to use this piper to drop FAB-250 or FAB-500 from let's say 800m? I know that's a joke but if you can manage a pitch attitude of 60-90 nose down you will see it but you're attitude won't allow a release. Really though, there is no way you'd ever use this helicopter to drop anything but bomblets from a KGMU dispenser (and even that still borders on funny). ZaltysZ Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) I know that's a joke but if you can manage a pitch attitude of 60-90 nose down you will see it but you're attitude won't allow a release. So does this piper really work as good piper supposed to work? Or it just shows ... something? :D In fact such attitude lets release of bombs. I have tried dropping bombs in vertical dive after hill maneuver, however Ka-50 is not a plane and corrections were hard to make, so success rate was low (excluding low altitude attacks). Use fire button as you do for other weapons to fire. The way I see it, its for use when your out of rockets, NEED to shoot close, have no time to use the Shkval, and gotta launch NOW. Safeties off, EMERGENCY FIRE. Better than nothing. Gonna take a look at the "CCIP" thing.
Henchman14 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Hah, there is a pipper. Almost straight down. Is that supposed to be there? Edited February 7, 2011 by Henchman14
kaizerszoze Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Hi...check this, and post me the english or hungarian trans-script, please :DD I could follow it until he aligned himself with the tgt, using the nav systems on the heli...but after that, how he figured the angle for the "pipper" I don't know..

Wow. There actually is a way to deploy bombs successfully  "it aligned it self automatically after he set the automatic tracking to gun sight mode and had the bombs selected" My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
Maverick_ Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 the reason the ccip pipper is below is due to the geometry of bombing, even jets like the F-16 or A-10 need to pitch down quite a bit, usually around 30 degrees nose down, so you can imagine a Ka-50 traveling a pokey 150-200kts would need severe nose pitch down in order to see the proper impact point. This is due to the law of inertia, the faster you are the further forward your bombs will travel after release, and so the less nose down you need to see your pipper Specs: 1tb HDD AMD FX-6300 16gb DDR3 Nvidia GTX-1070 Oculus CV1
Griffin Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Great guide! Thanks for sharing. I tried to make sense of bombing once upon a time but found it useless. Don't remember how different my technique was from this but in certain cituations this could work really well. Gonna test this too.
