Well the storm has passed and I'm on vacation for the next week.  A good time to try my new HP Reverb G2 and get some flight time in.

For the past 3 months I have only been doing training missions and training flights in the A-10C II.  I've been hesitant to join a MP server due to my inexperience.  That being said, this coming week will change that.

-Are there any universal rules/etiquette that I need to be aware of?

-Is there any required third party software that I should really have?  -SRS is something I've seen mentioned.

-Finally, are there any particular YouTube video guides for MP beginners that you would suggest?

All advice I can offer you:

- Universally just don't try to be a jerk to everyone; there are enough people who that. Dropping a cheeky bomb on your own airfield isn't as hilarious as some people think.

- SRS is popular to talk to others, but not generally a requirement. Usually the server info you get when you click on it before joining is going to tell you if people are expected to be on that

- There are a lot of different servers and they are run differently. If you give it a try and you find people are a bit hostile or you feel a little lost, just try a different one. A lot of servers are more focused on 'PvE', which means that other players aren't in the business of hunting you down at least. Some say 'Training Server' in their name, they are great places to just practice stuff and generally people aren't taken aback if you ask them questions.

- Remember to have some fun! Stick around where you find people whose company you enjoy.

Rule 1: When you shoot down a friendly (and you will), apologize quickly and sincerely. Also, when a friendly shoots you down (and they will), consider forgiving them if that’s option, after they apologize.

Definitely not me.  I'm little older and wiser when it comes to gaming.  But it's a very good piece of advice.  I hate when childish behavior creeps into a program like this.

Good advice! Probably why I will cut my teeth on PVE and training to start.

Yes, there are PVE training servers, which are meant for training. They are rather easy. Which means you don't really need any skill, so don't be afraid. 🙂 Nobody expects you to be an ace and most people are busy minding their own stuff.

It's important to watch out for other planes while taxiing, I prefer to wait until it is safe to start rolling or take off. Don't forget your lights so people can see you. Same with the landing. ATC works on some servers, so use it. Apart from that... in the A10 you might want to get together with some other people who can protect you against enemy fighters. Most servers have a discord or you can use this voice talk mod thing. Rules depend on servers, but usually it's just common sense. On some servers you need to read first how everything works. I can recommend the 4YA servers (Europe), where you can just plainly fly around on your own and destroy stuff.
