Posted this on another Simhq thread, but I thought that the devs should see it too...

Like most I've found many of the things to be very pleasing. However, after importing the rest of the objects in from 1.02 and playing a couple of missions, I still see many anoying features and bugs that has always plagued the Flanker series...

1. That bug with the autopilot has got to be the most annoying thing in flight sims ever. i'm talking about the one where if you disengage the AP when in NAV mode, and you are not level, the aircraft will become unstable and have a tendency to follow that last attitude. I am amazed its been there since Flanker 2.00 and still hasn't been fixed.

2. GAI-what's the deal here? Do they take off once somebody from the other side does, or once they are detected? Pretty useless the way its coded now I think...

3. Russian cockpit warnings in western birds-the other annoying thing (think BEEP_BEEP_BEEP) that has always ruined my F-15 experience. Guys, it's not so hard to get ahold of the proper sounds and stick them in there!;-)

4. Trim and wobbly behaviour...SOmetimes it's there, other times it isn't. My constant reaction has always been "I don't get it", and unfortunately I still don't. What forces the F-15 into a sudden, radical pitch up or down tendency beats me...

In any case, most of the things aren't bugs or missng features from the new version, rather, they are things that never got adressed.

I DO love those FMs though...The F-15 and Su-33 stick feeling is now fantastic!

Some other minor things I'd like to see adressed...:

-Contrails-I mean really, in a sim of this caliber, how can you have what looks like a two-frame animated gif as your contrails?

-Missile launch plumes and smoke effects. The flash of some AA missiles when launching was a good adition. This effect should be much more prevalent in SAM launches, and be accompanied by a large cloud of smoke left on the ground by the firing motor.

-Smoke thickness and visibility could also be improved.

-On that note, I think that smokeless missiles like the AMRAAM should leave a contrail when above the contrail altitude.

Not being disagreeable, but what made you think old bugs wouldn't show up if you imported files from 1.02. Also the F-15 and Su-33 did not get new models. Notwithstanding, I myself have not experienced the AP and trim bugs you refer to.

- I get this, but is easily avoided, just enter any a2a or a2g mode and the plane will straighten out with autopilot engaged.

- They will launch once you've been detected, I can't figure out if it's by radar or withint a certain distance from any enemy target. I need to test this some more. GAI is nice in A2G missions, they won't be in air and engage you directly.

- This is not a bug, it's meant to be that way. The beep beep beep is what can save your life if you know how to use the RWR.

- I get this only when I forget to trim, the F-15 is an automatic trimmer, no trim is needed with this plane, unless you use autopilot or alt hold. It doesn't wobble unless I am too fast with the stick.

On another forum a guy posted that he'd been in an F15 simulator earlier this month. He said that the plane had the same kind of "osscilations" in the simulator.

Why do I have to find workarounds for it work properly? Isn't the whole rationale that things should work properly and not via some detour?

I LOVE proper implementation of GAI, but the devs need to tell us some more about the IADS in the game, how it works, who reports to whom-if there is in fact a network, if they utilize proper sensor properties to detect all aircraft, player and AI, if THAT is the system used to scramble fighters, and not just some proximity trigger. These are the kinds of inner working that LOMAC needs to advertise if indeed they are present.

I am reffering to the terrain collision avoidance system which is simply non-existant in A-10s and F-15 in the way and sound depicted here.

Well I am not the only one to notice this so I stand by my earlier comments

Thanks for your contributions;-)

I think this is because the auto pilot trims the aircraft? If so press CTRL + T to remove the trim.

CTRL T. BTW, I guess you can map a "A+CTRL+T" combo on your hotas.

Agree (and ED is aware of that)

Agree, if you have the correct warning sounds, please, give them to ED

May be an incorrect joysting seting.

Check that there is no axis mapped with an other input hardware (other joytick, joypad, car wheel etc...). increase dead zone. if you use a cougar, you must put linear curves in the CCP.

Agree, but on the other hand, it is fps friendly.

You need to trim the aircraft after using autopilot.

Thank you Carl-Completely forgot my mind that AP trims the a/c! :D

You're welcome. As someone else has suggested, using the CTRL-T will center and neutalize the trim so that you can then fine tune with the regular trim controls. This is really necessary when flying the Fulcrum.

Cheers,

Carl

heheheh for some reason I find that answer pretty funny.

I guess because it had me imagined a group of Russian programmers armed with cameras and sound recorder at the gate of some U.S. AF base pleading to couple of armed guards why they needed the proper warning sounds. It shows that ED would rather deal with two very well trained U.S. military personels than a bunch of whining simmers.

edit:

I'm not saying you guys were whining... :)

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

You are totally right, Kovy. We really need any new info. This is only chance to see (or hear) them in any new version sooner or later.
