Slippa Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Hello, Not sure what's going on? Last time I loaded OB it was fine. I turned it all off, shutdown as usual, all good. Today, it loaded but asked me to log-in. Unusual but I went on. it crashed and rebooted the computer. I tried loading again, it crashed to a black screen so I rebooted. I repaired OB, it said it was fine and I rebooted judt for the freshener. Same again though, furthest I can get with it is to crash to a black screen and lock up. I wouldn't mind but.... Oh, hold on... Ok, I was about to type that the computer hadn't been touched since I turned it all off yesterday. Then, I remembered being very, very drunk much later last night and thinking I'd try, in a whiskey-soaked cross-eyed state, to try my luck at a Mossie take-off. This would by now have been the very early hours of the morning and had I had the forethought to use the on board oxygen supply, a quick snifter or two may have improved operations. This not being the case, I can't even remember if I got off the airfield. What I do know, is that DCS no longer loads. I tried a repair, no better. I've uninstalled the few mods I had installed , still no good. I ran another repair after uninstalling mods but still no joy so I'm here again scratching my head and hoping someone can make some sense out of the mess created. Thanks for looking. I'm on coffee and bottled water. dcs.log 1
Solution Rudel_chw Posted January 11, 2023 Solution Posted January 11, 2023 20 minutes ago, Slippa said: Thanks for looking. I'm on coffee and bottled water. try the following: Rename the folder D:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\ to D:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta.bak Does DCS run now? It may have asked your user and password, but if it runs then the problem is caused by something on your saved games folder. If it does not run, then the problem is either hardware or your dcs program folder is corrupt, which can be fixed by a dcs repair. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Slippa Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Cheers Rudel, it's loaded. Renaming my Saved Games folder's got it loaded. Back to default by the look of it, no bindings, settings etc. Is there a quick way to set it all back up or have I got to redo everything? 1

Slippa Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 I tried copying those folders as well as ‘liveries’ and ‘ kneeboard’ and pasted them into the new DCS.openbeta folder. Back to black again I’m afraid. An hour or so ago I had my bindings and views almost redone by copying just my ‘input’ folder into the new configs folder. Main options and settings I was trying to go through and reset from memory. I checked here, read your post and tried that but I’ve buggered it again somehow. Will look again tomorrow, cheers for looking. 1

Slippa Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) I’ve copied those, got it loaded and so far, bindings are good. I’m trying to find the main Options settings thing to copy that over. At some point I’m sure I should be deleting one of these OB folders as they’re more or less the same thing? cheers for the help, it’s running. found the Options settings, as you’ll know, it was an options.lua file thingy. Now do I feel lucky? Delete the .bak folder and cross my fingers? Edited January 12, 2023 by Slippa 2
