Hello,

Does anyone here know what TP and SM stand for on these two types of rockets?

I believe that they are practice rockets, but wonder what is the difference between them.

I need the information as background info on a rocket training mission that I'm working on ... currently this is the information that I have:

Quote

The Mirage F1-CE can carry the SNEB rocket, which is an unguided 68mm (2.7”) developed on the early 1950s, with full scale production starting on 1955, and currently manufactured by the French TDA Armaments.

It is fired from Launch Pods manufactured by Matra, with either 18 (Matra F4) or 36 rounds (Matra F1). As simulated on DCS, the Mirage F1 SNEB rockets can use the following warhead types:

SNEB Type 250 TP-SM:

SNEB Type 251 HE: High Explosive

SNEB Type 252 TP:

SNEB Type 253 HEAT: High Explosive Anti-tank.

SNEB Type 254 SM: Smoke, in Green, Red and Yellow variants.

SNEB Type 256 HE/Frag: High Explosive fragmentation warhead.

SNEB Type 257 HE/Frag Lg Whd: High Explosive fragmentation, larger warhead.

SNEB Type 259E IL: Illuminating warhead

The SNEB typical specifications are:

Caliber: 68 mm

Length: 0.94 m.

Weight: 15 lb.

Max speed: 450 m/sec.

Slant range: 1,600 meters.

If I have made an error with this description please tell me so I can fix it ... thanks a lot,

👍

TP Target Practice

SM Smoke Marker

So the difference would be one is emiting smoke upon impact while the other one does nothing.

To confirm let the AI shoot the rockets and see if the TP-SM emits smoke and that the TP one does nothing.
