amalahama Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) So in the video it can be seen that FLIR and RWR contacts can be correlated. Does this mean that FLIR can be pointed to an RWR emitter? Edited January 20, 2023 by amalahama
Checkmate Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Are any of the new features for the F-16 RWR going to make it into the F-18. I really like how F-16 RWR allows you to priortize AG treats or AA treats, how new emitters detected are handled, radar guided missle alert tone, target seperate button, etc. Maybe this functionality never existed in the F-18 and that is why were not seeing. It just feels like over the last year we have seen a lot of new features added to the F-16, but not a lot of love for the F-18.
Bunny Clark Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 The two aircraft do not use the same RWR, so a lot of those features do not cross over between aircraft. Things like warning tones are quite different between the two. Some of these features do exist in the Hornet and are already implemented. Things like Separate and Priority mode can be found on a handful of pushbuttons on the center column behind the stick. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Checkmate Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Hi Bunny thanks for the response. From what I understand the RWR on F-16 block 50 (AN/ALR-56) is little bit older than the RWR on F-18C (AN/ALR-67). Very impressed when in the F-16 if you press the Separate button in F-16 Block 50 the RWR takes returns on top of each other seperates them along the same bearing line. I would think that the F-18 would do the same thing. By keeping them all on the same bearing line at least you know what direction the signal is coming from. Same issue with the Priorty funtion in the F-16 block 50, the priorty button allows you to priortize the target to only show AG or AA depending on what type you want to look at. I would hope that the slightly newer system in the F-18C compared to F-16 block 50 would work the same way.
