The control measures are barriered because the control measure database is full. You need to delete some control measures before you can add anymore.

I believe this needs to be addressed. Any reasonably sized mission will instantly blow up the CM database.

If you check "Hide on MFD" the system wont auto-pop the SA page with icon.

You can hide most and leave one or two as ref / whatever you'll see fit infact. But its 'not an issue'.

EDIT : after-thought, an easy check in the ME in the AH64D option tab would also doe the trick' for not having to hide all units by hand.

It IS an issue because you don't make the majority of the missions that you play. At least I don't. Sometimes I cobble together something, but most times I just play other people's missions, especially online.

It also IS an issue because "Just leave one or two as ref" is what mission makers should be doing, but instead the default is to show them all. The default should be to not show units and opt into showing them.

It also IS an issue because ever since this was implemented, the CM database was always completely full, even for smaller missions that just had a few units around bases and farps as flavor, not really doing much.

It's more a "mission making related" factor. I get you're point, and yes it is somewhat annoying, but you can delete the point in youre cockpit. So, yes, quality-of-life-wise for you, it's an issue, but "game developpement wise" it's not. All the options / tools are there, that's what i meant. Educating the mission-maker / them getting experience making AH64D missions will somewhat resorb this over time.

As someone who makes large missions for my group of friends to fly, having the default to hidden on MFD, and the option to show the few units I may want to reveal would make a huge difference.

This has been discussed at some length in several other threads. It seems the consensus is that there should just be an option somewhere (maybe in the settings for the AH-64, maybe in the ME) that stops this auto-population happening. It's especially annoying right now since if you spawn an object dynamically using MOOSE/MIST/etc in a mission the "hidden on MFD" option does not always inherit from the template so even that workaround doesn't work reliably. Also this option then affects every aircraft, so you have to have the same threats loaded into an Apache as you do into an F-16 on the other side of the map. Clearly that's not realistic or useful... Personally I run a script to clear the entire database at the start of every online mission and then add back any points I want, but it's long-winded and annoying.

Agreed 100% as I cannot imagine anyone enjoying 10 -20 min of mission time just slowly deleting large amounts of CM's and Target points in every mission that were auto populated during mission start.  I just tested again tonight seems still not addressed.
