StormBat Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Didn't know where else to post this message, I don't think this is a bug, but it is a real problem in VR. So I just updated DCS World and hopped into my F-16 (cold start) Well right away I noticed my VR headset and mouse both conflicting with each other as both wanted to be the cursor. I couldn't even start her up because the cursor would disappear when I moved my head to look at the switches I wanted to turn on. Please, please tell me there is a way to disable your VR headset from wanting to be the mouse cursor. trevoC Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 I think the idea is that you can not have to use your mouse. bind a joystick trigger to left and right mouse click and then look at the switch and click the binding. Also, (I dont't do above) you can look at the switch and then without wildly moving your head, use the mouse to fine tune the mouse cursor. This is how I do it. Haven't had any issues personally. I just look in the general direction of the switch, pause my head movement and use the mouse to click the switch and then look away. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 In the VR tab inside Setting, uncheck the option "Use Mouse" I Fly, Therefore I Am. StormBat Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 No, you don't understand, I want to use my mouse as my cursor to click on switches in my cockpit. I want the VR Headset NOT to move the cursor at all. Anyone else understand what I'm trying to say? 1 X570S AORUS PRO AX MOTHERBOARD, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core Processor, GIGABYTE GEFORCE RTX 3090 TI, 64GB DDR4(Corsair Vengeance LPX), DARK ROCK PRO 4 250W TDP Heatsink, Corsair AX1600i Power Supply, 2TB SSD, Windows 10 64 Bit VR: HP Reverb G2, VIRPIL: VPC Constellation ALPHA Prim[R], VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle, VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Base
StormBat Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 Okay, I found out what the issue was, since the update today, open composite for DCS world is broken. Once I disabled it, my mouse cursor and headset were back to normal. Which sucks because Necksafer won't run without Open Composite, which makes dogfighting useless. Hope that gets resolved soon. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 On the other hand, OpenComposite and XRNeckSafer still work for me here. I Fly, Therefore I Am. hamlet2k Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I'm not running open composite and still have the mouse cursor linked to my headset. Is there any way to permanently detach it from the headset movement?

You can move the cursor with your mouse, but you need to keep your head still as that will also move it at the same time. You get used to it after a while, and even use both of them in combination. Qcumber Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I use JoytoKey to enable HOTAS binds to centre and offset the cursor then I can easily look anywhere in the cockpit. I have a "finger mouse" strapped to my joystick so that I can easily interact with switches etc without needing to take my hand off the stick to reach the mouse. 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).

I assume you don't have any problems. I wonder if you had to change anything I am not aware of? Edited December 1, 2024 by Koziolek

Koziolek Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) Maybe I did. JTK works in Windows, mouse cursor centers in the middle of the desktop, I can left click or right click on icons in desktop but not in dcs. I can use joystick buttons but I have to assign them in dcs in UI tab. But in dcs there is no center cursor button so it's not enough I must see what I am doing wrong with JoyToKey Edited December 1, 2024 by Koziolek
Koziolek Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 OK, running JtK as an administrator did the trick 1
Hadeda Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 I'm having the same issue as the OP. I don't want my headset to be tied to my mouse controls but can't seem to switch that off. Very annoying as the direction is also inverted, meaning I have to look the other way to try and get my mouse pointer to move to the Fly, Launch, etc. button! This seems to be a new issue and I'm at a loss as how to fix it. 1

This was at least partly an issue with using HTCC and Slugmouse, which can be partly resolved by reducing the trigger area for these devices. Nonetheless it would be really helpful if the HMD mouse functionality can simply be turned off.
