Broken A/A Tacan Mirage-F1EE

I have been testing this for an hour or so at this point and cannot get the tacan for the tanker to work in the F1. I set the correct TCN freq and NAV mode and could not get any bearing information or distance information to the tanker. I hoped in my F-5 and a few other planes to test and it worked perfectly on the same mission. Back into the F1 and no matter what I set the TCN too (X/Y, A/A, T/T, REC, and any combination of there of) and nothing would work. Is this something that has not been implemented yet? The airport tacan station seems to work as intended but I cannot get the tanker tacan to work.

Hi

Set the tacan to RNAV, and it should work. the A/A mode don't  work (for sur in the M2000 and the F1). I tested it, it works fine. My tanker has X36 as tacan freq, and with RNAV set, it gives me bearing and distance.

Okay so I figured out why it wasn't working. I set the tankers Tacan to 81Y as they use TCN Y for tankers irl and that's just what I'm used to. If you go into any multiplayer/singleplayer mission where the tankers are set to use Y, it just doesn't work period and end of story. When I looked this up and watched videos they said, "Y does not work yet" I thought they meant that it would still work on any tanker, you just need to set it to X in your plane. Looks like I won't be able to find the tankers on multiplayer I guess.

Any idea when Aerges will fix this?

I flew two days ago a liberation campaign mission in multiplayer with KC-130 on 37Y. I had perfect indication placing IDM selector in R Nav.

I tried multiple times on multiple servers and could not get that to work, I will try it again with 37Y before i was using 81Y, maybe it's too high and doesn't recognize it. I'll be back with updates when I try it.

I don’t know if you’re aware about that but, A/A TACAN works in M-2000C with other modules. Each should be 63 channels apart (for instance 12X and 75X) and you will only get range information.

This is how A/A is supposed to work.

In DCS World, tanker’s TACAN works like ground or aircraft carrier TACAN. This kind of small TACAN for air tankers do exist, but this is a late modern feature.

Nevertheless, it often does not work properly, or not at all. If you have to use X even though the TACAN channel is set to Y, this has little to do with modern or old. This bug has been around for a while. This is a DCS World bug and not a F1-EE specific bug.

So I tested a mission with the tacan set to 37Y for the tanker. Nothing...

No bearing, distance, or any indication. Just the spinning bearing pointer with the distance numbers blocked out.

For the record, I just tested with 2 tankers, one on 37X, the other on 37Y.
Indeed, with Mirage F1EE the needle stayed pointed onto 37X, no matter X or Y selection.

I switched the plane for M-2000C and it worked, it pointed on each tanker with correct range depending on X or Y selection.
TACAN in T/R mode in both cases, I didn't try A/A.

So the bug is on the module, not on DCS...

A few day ago, I wanted to find the tanker on a multiplayer server. It was an A/A Tacan @31Y. It only worked with T/R @31X (AV8B and F-14). So there is a bug in DCS, not only in the EE. I know this behavior for quite a while now on many servers.

To begin with, in DCS, tanker’s TACAN works in T/R mode. Good or bad, it is the way it is.

How can you be sure it isn’t a mistake in mission’s briefing ?

Many patches ago, the Tanker worked with A/A, as it should. So there is a DCS bug, and yes, there is everything fine in the mission briefing.

Checked again. Tanquer with 37YIi have positive indication in my IDM with Tacan selector in T/R 37Y and IDM in R Nav.

I set up a mission with 2 tankers flying 3 Nm appart. I'm flying lined up behind the 37X tanker.

M-2000C, Hornet, Harrier: I can detect both tankers in 37X and 37Y in T/R mode.

Mirage F1EE, TACAN T/R, R Nav N: I can detect 37X but not 37Y.

It’s really weird.

in my mission with 2 tankers, if I switch from 37X to 37Y, it keeps indicating range and bearing to 37X tanker.

If I delete 37X tanker, it won’t indicate 37Y tanker.

Others modules have no issue switching between both tankers.

I tried the same thing, mission with tanker set to 37Y. No indication at all.
