Delberan Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Was trying to fly the Mirage again after a couple of months break and running into a problem. This happens with both the CE and EE version. The engine dies after about a minute after cold start while doing the rest of the startup procedure, and will not let me start it again. What I am doing: -Turn on battery -Turn on warning system -Open and cover the main fuel cock -Turn on both fuel pumps -Turn on the starter pump (opening the lid) and press Start about 1-1,5 seconds after. -After 300 rpm i move the throttle from cutoff to idle -I rearm the inverter switch. About here I get the master alarm and the engine dies. Even though I reset it will not start again. Am I forgetting something? I never had any problems before. Anything new I have missed? EDIT: Tried again and paid attention to the warning lights. Seems I get an engine fire each time... Edited February 3, 2023 by Delberan
Delberan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) A full repair of DCS seems to have solved the problem. I was too quick. It is still happening. Enginge fire warning after about 30 seconds. Engine at idle rpms after startup. Edited February 4, 2023 by Delberan
gulredrel Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Part of the latest changelog is this: "Moving the throttle to idle before the RPM are above 300 may lead to fire or over-temperature due to accumulation of fuel faster than before (IMPORTANT)." Maybe wait a bit longer than 300 rpm on the gauge before going to idle? Looking at it parallax error could be, that you haven't yet reached 300 rpm? Also monitor EGT gauge.

Iron Sights Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Leave your throttle in idle cut off until rpm’s reach 1200 and click it to idle and it will run. There was a change made from the old 300 rpm snap the throttle forward startup procedure.
Bremspropeller Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Aren't you supposed to put the throttle into idle between 300 and 600RPM? I'm usually waiting for 400-500, just to be pendantic and hit the center of the band. Never had an engine die after statup, so far. 2 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!

Solution itn Posted February 6, 2023 Solution Posted February 6, 2023 I had issues with this. Seems like it was caused by my idle cutoff binding (using WH throttle). Make sure you are in idle cutoff, or it will feed and you will get hot start, even if throttle handle is all the way back and looking like it’s in cutoff. 2

This is exactly what had happened. I had reversed the idle/cutoff binding on my Winwing throttle. After correcting it it works perfectly. 1 1
