darkman222 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) As title says. I like the AB detent wich is F16 specific. But if I decide to quickly jump into the F18 or F14 or F86 which are my other favorite aircraft, will I always have the dentent active? Or can it be temporarily disabled and quickly re-enabled when switching back to the F16. Or would I need to unscrew the metal detent rail then?! I have not bought an F16 throttle yet, but planning on. Edited February 8, 2023 by darkman222 1
Phantom711 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 I don‘t see a quick way of disassambling the metal construction. But since an F/A-18 and F-14 have throttles with some sort of AB detent as well, I don‘t see why you would want to do that… Any aircraft without AB is a different story though. vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. darkman222 Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 I think the positions on which the AB kicks in are different between aircraft. And since we can't set the AB positions as easy as in the other viper Simulator AB will fire at a different position to the actual throttles detent.
rob10 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) Realistically at least 4 bolts to remove the detent rail. Shouldn't be a big job assuming you're not changing out the throttle handles too (then it becomes a fair bit bigger job), but it's going to take a couple of minutes. Putting it back on might take a little longer to get it positioned exactly right again. You can set the AB in the SimAppPro software to match in game (pretty easy to do for a single aircraft). I can't remember if you could save a profile for each or you'd have to manually change that too . EDIT TO ADD: just checked and it doesn't look like you can save a profile with different AB settings. Not super hard to change, but not the ideal option either. Edited February 8, 2023 by rob10 1

You can adjust the throttle curve in each aircraft so they all use the same detent. Very easy with this handy tool. Much easier than changing the physical detent every time you want to fly a different plane. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315617/ Edited February 15, 2023 by Scott-S6 1
Dragon1-1 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 That's what I do with my Hornet throttle. Takes some fiddling initially, but you only do this once.
Delta-canard Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Winwing's software allows multiple settings for the ab detent. On top of that, the detent can also be adjusted in "special" settings of the Mirage which is my main module, maybe some other planes do that too. I came up with another thing: while I'd adjust the ab detent of any plane I fly with the physical detent of my F-16 handle, I calibrated the throttles asymmetrically to accommodate non-after burning planes. This way, when I fly the Albatros or the Harrier, they are set to full throttle at the mil power stop and I don't have to operate the detent. Of course I grmet less range but it seems ok 1
