TheoreticalApex Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 DCS will keep crashing at random points during play. Looks like an ACCESS VIOLATION but I am not educated enough to be able to read the log and know what the issue is. Below is what stands out to me but again, I don't have an understanding of what it means. The full log is attached. Thanks! As far as overclocking, I have a very mild undervolt applied to the GPU and CPU just to bring the temperatures down a bit, but the clock speeds are still the same. I don't know if that is even considered an overclock? I just lowed the power delivery a bit but both the GPU and CPU have no issues hitting their stock clock speeds, and I have never had stability issues in any game or heavy processing application including DCS until a couple days ago. I did however update my NVIDIA drivers right around the time the crashes started happening, I wonder if the new driver has an issue maybe? I think it is weird that it just started happening out of nowhere when nothing on the game side changed. I need to read up on what the pagefile settings are just for my own education purposes but I will go ahead and change them and test the stability. Thanks! Edit: When changing the pagefile settings should I set it to the drive that DCS is installed on? I have it on a separate M.2 drive than my Boot drive. In that video he says to set all other drives to "none." Will that negatively effect the performance of the other drives (Boot and a large storage SSD)? Edit: Immediately after posting this I went to double check and a new NVIDIA driver was released yesterday. I will update that, change the pagefile settings and run some tests in DCS. You want your pagegile on your fastest drive (usually the one Windows chooses by default), as long as it has sufficient free space. It doesn't matter if DCS is installed on that same drive, because data goes from DCS files to RAM, then from RAM to pagegile, then back to RAM. Edited March 3, 2023 by Flappie ---

I have definitely heard that from many different sources about overclocking in DC. I will try everything else and if the issue still arises I will slowly take out the undervolt. I just really enjoy that I was able to make a 3090 never get above 67 decrees C haha. I have two identical M.2 NVME drives (1TB each), I put the pagefile on my boot since it is in the top M.2 slot on the motherboard and uses the faster lanes. After doing this and updating the NVIDIA drivers which came out last night I was able fly in single player and on a highly populated multiplayer server for about 3.5 hours of flight time with no crashes. Hoping my issues are fixed, if not I will start to take out the undervolt. Thanks for your help! 3
TheoreticalApex Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 So since making those changes DCS has been performing perfectly for about 15 hours total of flight time. Just had my first crash, same error I believe. The crash log is attached. Thanks! dcs.20230306-070645.log

It should run your GPU at its factory default speed. See if it helps. Edited March 7, 2023 by Flappie ---
