 I don't know if you're using the stand alone or Steam version.  But if you go to your stand alone, DCS World OpenBeta Folder there is a new folder named bin-mt.  In that folder is the DCS.exe.  That's the one you will load if you want MT.  As for Steam, I believe it will ask you if you want to opt into it.  Hope that helps.  Cheers.

its the standalone version. what I am asking is do I need 2 seperate instances of the game isntalled, one for beta one for official, or is there a way to make the current one use the beta patch

Well if you want to have both installed at the same time you need two separate installations.. but why would you? Most of the servers are open beta anyway...

I switched to open beta a while ago and never even considered using the other version...

 

I think another option is to have 2 shortcuts to the same DCS folder but then everytime you start the game it has to patch to the version you selected...
