CaptScotty Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Lately, I've put a wing man out there for grins. About 1/2 way thru the mission, he is calling Bingo fuel even though my fuel is about above 1/2. I don't go bingo for another 2 to 3 targets and way points. He has the same ordinance I have and same fuel, so why is he calling Bingo so much earlier than my plane does. Some times I can't get to my first target without crying Bingo. What a wimp.
rob10 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Very likely because he was using afterburner to catch up/keep up with you. Make sure you keep your speed very conservative until he's saddled. Otherwise he'll fly in AB to catch up with you and will run out of fuel fairly quickly. 1
CaptScotty Posted March 12, 2023 Author Posted March 12, 2023 Not very good wing man to do that. I flew T-38s in the USAF German Pilot Training and we flew a lot of formation both 2 ship and 4 ship and you never use AB to get back into position. The speeds I'm using are 430 to 500 kts thru out the whole flight.
rob10 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Yes, IRL no sane wingman would use A/B to get into formation. This is not IRL and ED seems to be working to improve AI but they haven't got to this one yet. Keep it below 300 kts until he's saddled might work out better for you.
ED Team NineLine Posted March 15, 2023 ED Team Posted March 15, 2023 You can restrict Afterburn use in the mission editor, try using this for now. We are hopeful the new AI GFM will improve their fuel usage as well. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
