(Desktop-)Shortcut for MT version of DCS?

I've changed the start option for the DCS World Steam Edition to "Play MT Preview" and activated "Always use this option". This works well, as long as I start DCS via Steam.

But sadly every other way of starting DCS results in launching the ST version of DCS, i. e. via desktop shortcut (which opens the link steam://rungameid/223750) or even directly by executing the bin-mt\dcs.exe.

Is there any way to start the MT version of DCS via a desktop shortcut?

Modify your existing (or create a new) steam desktop shortcut and change the URL to 

steam://launch/223750/option1

This should work - AFAIK you have to use the the openbeta to run the MT version at all. [MT is available in OB and Stable as well - see post below from @draconus]

 

And pay attention to modify the link correctly if you rename the default URL from the

ST version

steam://rungameid/223750

for the MT version

steam://launch/223750/option1

 

Initially I only added "/option1" to the default URL "steam://rungameid/223750", which didn't work. Use the correct URL "steam://launch/223750/option1" instead and it will work.

MT preview is an option for stable version too since 2.8.4.
