Hootman9104 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Just started testing the new MT, gained about 10-15 in VR, but noticed what may be an issue with Viacom PRO. The comms menu (F10 I think) appears to open and close on it's own about every 5 seconds using the beta MT executable. Going to keep checking, but is anyone else noticing this?

Others know more about this, but I believe that’s a common problem after an update, so it may not be to do with mt per se. Have you tried it without mt since the update? Horns Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I believe this is usually tackled with a .lua reset. If you go into Voice Attack, open the Vaicom Pro config window (ctrl + alt + c by default), go to the Reset tab (last tab) and *only* tick "Lua code", then click "MASTER ZERO". You'll receive a dialog window asking you to confirm, and then another telling you to restart Voice Attack. Do so, then run DCS (mt DCS is fine) and, hopefully, you won't get a blinking comms menu after that. 1 1 Modules: [A-10C] [AJS 37] [AV8B N/A] [F-5E] [F-14] [F-15E] [F-16] [F/A-18C] [FC3] [Ka-50] [M-2000C] [Mig-21 bis] [Afghanistan] [Cold War: Germany] [Iraq] [Kola] [NTTR] [PG] [SC] Intel i9-14900KF, Nvidia GTX 4080, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master X 64GB DDR5 @ 6400 MHz, SteelSeries Apex Pro, Asus ROG Gladius 3, VKB Gunfighter 3 w/ F-14 grip, VKB STECS throttle, Thrustmaster MFD Cougars x2, MFG Crosswind, DSD Flight Series button controller, XK-24, Meta Quest 3

All seems good for now. 1
sthompson Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Flashing comms menu is a classic symptom of not doing the proper update dance, which requires shutting everything down, then updating or repairing DCS, then restarting VoiceAttack, then restarting DCS. If you don't do it in that order you will have problems. It has to do with how VAICOM patches the DCS files. I've been having a different problem, but I'm not sure it's MT related. I've had trouble getting the comms menu to open at all since I started using MT. The problem goes away if VoiceAttack is not running. I've only tried this on some missions I never flew before, and so possibly it is mission related and not MT related. These are missions for the JF-17, and it turns out that with recent updates you can't start your engine successfully unless you remove the inlet covers, and VAICOM has no command for that. So I need the comms menu. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. kirillbubel Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 I got DCS crash while using Viacom Pro. I tested this for MI24 in quick missions. The whole system crashed a couple of times and the PC rebooted. I am a new user and maybe I am doing something wrong. There is no problem when Viacom Pro is not used.
piolin23000 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 hi guys, i have a problem with Voice attack with steam, when i start DCS MT my VA not working, but if i start ST the VA working perfect, somebody know what's going on? thank you everybody

In other words, I can start it before and after starting DCS, incuding re-starting it while in DCS. HOWEVER, if VA is using a Plugin, there may be instances when it doesn't operate properly if there is a plugin being utilized, for instance for DCS if you are using VIACOM-PRO plugin, it may act up. Every now and again, VA with VIACOM-PRO will stop functioning IF I start it prior to launching DCS, sometimes it will stop working once i load DCS, even the automatic restart that's part of VIACOM-PRO won't work, and I have to alt-tab out and restart VA. But starting VA with VIACOM-PRO after getting into DCS (alt-tab) works fine. If you are running VA with NO plug ins at all, nothing should be affected one way or the other, because all VA is doing is pressing keys based on your voice. It doesn't know what game you are running, and you should be able to start it before, or after you get into DCS. VA should not care where you are, it's just pressing keys based on your commands. So check if you are using any kind of plugins in VA. If so, try unchecking/disabling them in VA, and try it again, without the plugin. Bottom line, I can't think of any reason for VA to be acting up IF you are not using a plugin in VA that interacts with DCS.

VAICOM PRO modifies DCS files, and this must be done before DCS starts to be effective. Now if the files are already modified because you ran VAICOM PRO previously then this doesn't matter. But it comes into play when DCS updates, because the update is essentially an "undo" for the VAICOM PRO modifications. This is why it is important to start (or restart) VAICOM PRO (and let it complete its initialization) before you start DCS after a DCS update. At other times the order is not so important. How is it "not working?" For me VoiceAttack and VAICOM Pro have been working just fine with the MT version. But I don't use Steam. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. TOViper Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 (edited) Maybe someone experiences the same problem when updating the LUA scripts in the DCS user profile folder/scripts. My SavedGames folder for my DCS openbeta is c:\users\pilot\DCS.openbeta28x This is, because my DCS installation folder has a file called variant.txt in it, which holds the string "DCS.openbeta28x" This is, because I use more than one DCS installations on my computer. Unfortunately, VAICOM always updates the scripts in the folder DCS.openbeta (which I don't use at all, so it is created by VAICOM). I have to manually update the file export.lua in my DCS user profile by copy-pasting the respective line and then saving it, and then fire up DCS. I did have other installations in "manual" folders from the variant file, but not sure if I ever tried VAICOM with them. I guess it's one for the wish list. Cheers!

Yes, It’s working fine again for me. Go figure! Lots of changes and updates lately. Probably will be glitchy for a while.
MAXsenna Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 The only times I have issues, it's VoiceAttack seems to be out of sync with the Windows Audio settings. The issues I do have is if I switch modules, sometimes press/release of a TX seems to be switched and "stuck". I then hops out of the module, and restart VA. Sometimes I need to shutdown DCS first.
