Zone5 Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 Since the end of FEB I have had the problem that SimApp Pro doesn't work. Despite multiple reinstallations, at some point during the period from 15 FEB to 25 FEB, it stopped functioning for my machine (I was away, so I don't know precisely when it stopped). When I came back from a trip it tried to update, stopped, and that's how this began. Both the most recent version (1.8.22) and the current one (1.8.23) don't seem to function. The software loads to a point (opens the main window, but doesn't detect any devices) and then stops, the window closes, but 4 process are left running in the background (all named "simapppro.exe") one of which cannot be stopped even with Task Manager. I have submitted a ticket to Customer Service, which resulted in a statement by them that they needed to "remotely operate" my computer. The felt the need to specifically tell me several times that my "privacy would be respected" (methinks they dost protest too much...), which I am not comfortable with. 1) Has anybody else had any problems like this? 2) Has anybody had any experience with WinWing remotely operating their computer? Am I being overly paranoid? 3) Any better ideas? The hardware still works fine, and I can use it in DCS, Falcon BMS and MSFS without any issues, but without the software support I can't use the stick shaker (not a huge loss, frankly), but I also can't redesignate axes (which might be a problem at some point).

Just received my Orion 2 Throttle and SimApp Pro 1.8.23 seems to work correctly i.e. axis/button tester, calibration and firmware update. The Orion F-16EX joystick Grip and base are working in the SimApp Pro tester (and DCS) but when checking if there's a firmware update - it can't "dial" home (latest version says "retrieving") - other than that, every thing seems to work. i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440

Have you looked at your anti-virus? Seems like something that could decide to kick in and mess with things.
Zone5 Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 That was the first this I thought of. Firewall pass through checked and in place. Antivirus deactivated. Multiple trials with both 1.8.22 and 1.8.23 Same results. Run as Administrator (and also not). Same results. There is clearly SOMETHING it is not playing well with, but I can't sort it out.
Zone5 Posted March 19, 2023 Author Posted March 19, 2023 Problem solved: Apparently Citrix disrupts the function of SImApp Pro (and a bunch of other things). I had it installed for work, and it was interfering. Once removed, it works like a charm. Will also notify WW CS so they know. 1 2

Has anyone been able to fix this? I have the exact same problem, except the joystick grip doesn't show up in the SimApp Pro, and not in dcs, but my throttle and base do. The simapp pro also says retrieving as well, and I've tried many things to fix it, but no Cigar.
Dunska Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Winwing have said that they took down the F16 joystick firmware as they are working on an update. No timeframe as yet. Mine has been showing "retrieving" for months and there is no F16 joystick firmware listed on the Winwing download site. I guess we just have to wait another "two weeks" :-).
Joch1955 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I have the same "issue". Firmware update for the F16 stick/base has been showing "retrieving" for about 2 weeks, but when I check on the site, I have the latest version of software/firmware. A bit annoying, but the stick/throttle work fine in the App and DCS, so I don't bother with it. As I learned a long time ago with computer hardware/software, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Beeroshima Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 I've had similar issues with "SimApp pro Not responding" The program just freezes, and then 20 minutes later, it slowly unlocks and progresses. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing. Reinstalled windows and it worked for a while, and then fails again. I'm thinking there's something in a windows update that breaks it.
