LtFransky Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I found this today. I can't find much support, but it looks like the Ka-50 has been cancelled as of Jan. 1st. http://warfare.ru/?lang=&catid=260&linkid=1631 http://www.avia.ru/cgi/news/news.cgi?action=geten&id=1231624136 It's not a huge deal, but I thought you all might like to know. Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die. A man walks into a zoo. The only animal in the entire zoo is a dog. It's a shitzu
Pilotasso Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Looks like the type only seased to produce, it will continue to fly albeit in reduced numbers. .
jpm1 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 after the Comanche now the Ka-50 seems like huge heavy tanks confrontation now belongs to history , isn't it ? honestly if we follow that logic line i think the days of the Alligator are unfortunately counted . they'll maybe make 20 or 30 to satisfy the people SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I am not sure why the comanche was cancelled, maybe budget cuts but the Ka-50 seems to have been simply left behind in favour of the 52 flavour. .
HansRoaming Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Shame, it's a nice helicopter that with apparently low costs would be a big export winner.
dirt-torpedo Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 why would russia scrap this model? it's like saying America! No more A-10's! unless they have a Russian "comanche" I see this as more Hinds getting downed.
EvilBivol-1 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) According to unofficial information, both the Shkval sensor and the Vikhr missile are no longer produced. Russia simply finished off the few Ka-50 airframes that had already been under construction in the initial batch, but they will not build any new ones, because that would mean restarting production of these outdated and no longer useful products. Instead, they appear to be moving toward producing Ka-52s and modifying them and the Mi-28N toward greater unification, including utilizing Ataka missiles on the Ka-52. jpm1 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 attack helos'll be quickly replaced by ummanned drones which are superior to them in all points . Tigers 'll last a bit more cause they are planned to equip the Mistral and the Tonnerre which are already built . The german Tiger too as Germany has a tanks tradition it's highly likely it'll be a political stake and so will last too SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
