VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 (edited) While I heard that Pro has the same computing power as the 2, does it means that it has less well performance due to higher resolution? GunSlingerOZ Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 No, they are basically the same resolution, so there is zero impact on performance. 1

That is correct, in numbers: Meta Quest Pro: 1800x1920 per eye Meta Quest 2: 1832x1920 per eye The higher clocked computing power of Quest Pro does not really matter when playing VR on PC. 1 Ryzen 7 5800X3D // 64 GB RAM // RTX 4090 // Quest Pro // Quest 3
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted March 23, 2023 Author Posted March 23, 2023 Thanks everyone. Looking for cheap one on eBay. It cuts to £990.60 theses days but do not know for how long. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Okay, I guess it would be best post it here. Finally got one on eBay. Claimed to be "brand new", but upon arrival, definitely used a bit -- the power plug was not in place, almost all wrappings were gone. Both controllers and the headset were drained. Unit was reset, rather clean and most importantly, the lenses are crystal clear. Wifie pretended not noting I have changed the headset which is a good thing, for now. Good: Light -- not as so as Pico4, balanced. Software -- not perfect, it is Meta we are talking, but definitely light years better than SteamVR and WMR. Crystal clear -- better than Pico4, and due to the software, looks much sharper. Pancake is the future, there is no going back. For the very first time, I can see exactly where the gun rounds were going to land on. Do not need to press so hard to secure on my head, unlike Quest2 and Pico4, which required me to push the face mask close to the face. I play a lot of dog fights, so I need to "look around" a lot. As a glasses user, it adds another layer of complication, even though the lens design is totally glasses-friendly. Also, there is a nice cable guide included, can tie the USB-C cable next to the side arm without bending the cable near to the plug. Oh, USB-C is the next best thing after DP. Not so good: I have no full light blocker, which is super expensive, I use the half-blocker and the bottom part still lets light in, as expected. No big deal, especially when I play after sunset. The half-blocker is another problem, the right one gets in the way when pushing the glasses in. When I tie the headset too hard, the glasses also push to the face and it will get very uncomfortable. May be it is time to invest into those add on glasses so that I don't have to use mine. The forehead support was not that bad, wifie, made a head band, running right to left, to lighten the load. I heard great comments on the Globular Cluster replacement but again, they were too expensive. I am not sure but I need to turn the brightness to two-fifth. The physical buttons are placed oddly, don't like them. The colour passthrough mode is such a joke that I really don't care DCS, gimme eye tracking support today, right now! 1 I Fly, Therefore I Am. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted May 22, 2023 Author Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) I find this "Fll Light Blocker" on eBay, < 19 quids with shipping (note the model it applies on): Magnetic and the sides are now better covered now. Glasses can "push" through without much issue. Minor leakages at the nose and two top corners, but at this price, it is totally acceptable. May not be as comfy as the official one at almost 3 times the price tag, but so far, no skin issues. Need more test on long-term usage.
