Pilotasso Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) We have numerous quakes, in my life time only the weakest ones 5 and below. Made windowns and furniture make noises and stuff moving arround. However my parets have gone through a very scary ride in late 60's when a big one, 7.0 I believe hit Lisbon. My country is very active geologicaly. Lisbon was the first and only capital in europe to have been destroyed, leveled to the ground by a massive tsunami. It was in 1755. The city is at the mouth of a river and the reason why there were detailed historical chronicals at all was because of the screaming survivors at the city but exposed coastal populations were almost completely obliterated throught western and south coasts. They took the full blast of that 9.0 quake. Spain was hit pretty hard too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1755_Lisbon_earthquake Interesting read, there should be a antional documentary about it. http://nisee.berkeley.edu/lisbon/ Edited February 4, 2009 by Pilotasso .
