Hello,

Loving the campaign, pretty fun. Mission 6 after you take of from the FARP Romeo or whatever you go to first target. Loadout makes it so I'm not able to kill all 8 tanks at the 2 locations so I need wingman. Even modifying loadout to JDAMs they miss too often in TOO to get it done. Anyway, whenever you command wingman to attack, he attacks first target and completes attack usually scoring one. He then flies off into neverland. F10 menu only has RTB option after you order him to attack so no update. He never returns to second attack waypoint, whether you have him attack first or second target. Looks like the circling waypoints thing doesn't seem to work maybe.... ?

This is on DCS latest as of today, multi-threaded, and I'm using VR and all the bells and whistles. No user scripts other than custom changes I made to AV8B in view.lua and dispensers.

Otherwise really fun, good work.

Thanks, glad you've enjoyed the campaign so far.  There's a new bug affecting the AI when it drops a GBU-12, after dropping the weapon the AI does what you've seen and flies away and cannot be controlled further.  This mission is designed to have the wingman support you in taking out targets so this is a real pain in the backside.  I have isolated the bug and reported to ED so hopefully we'll see a fix soon, in the meantime I will update the mission to swap out the GBU-12 to 38s instead.

Awesome possum, glad it's not just me. I remember making missions way back when dcs was new and I remember the single most stressful thing about the mission editor was trying to account for the AI's shenanigans lol. Thanks for putting out some fantastic stuff.

@ChillNG, Is this something you can put out on user files as a temp fix until an update via ED can be made?  I know you have a lot of code running in the background that you want to keep under lock so I can understand if its different.  The Raven One campaign did temp fixes this way.  Basically waiting on mission 6 until a fix is made, or could I roll back DCS versions?  Not sure where the AI/GBU-12 bug was introduced.

Thank you for reporting it to ED!

Update should be with us pretty soon, I'd normally put the files out but on this occasion it's nearly a third of the campaign that needed a minor fix, so too many to put out there this time.  But update has been submitted and ED reporting the GBU-12 as fixed internally so shouldn't be too long a wait.  The missions can still be completed no problems though, you just won't be able to max out scores or in some cases complete every task on the mission.

Hello, I am in mission 6 of this great campaign and I have a question not related to AI. What is the ideal way of deployment of the MK-20? CCIP/CCRP/angle/speed/... Fuse modes are still broken for Harrier (i.e. no difference between PR and OP)? Thank you.

I usually go with CCIP, PR.  Dive around 30-40 degrees.  Always found that pretty successful.

Thank you for the tips. I will try them as soon as my nerves calm down after mission 5 :-).

Spoiler

Btw, I find 2 out of those 3 (?) manpads in mission 5 too difficult to spot. It took me several attempts, i.e. a couple of hours to realize what was killing me without warning.

OK that's interesting, to be honest in testing I could never got the MANPADS to fire on me...I'm assuming because they couldn't see me in the dark, didn't have your lights left on or anything did you?

The wingman in mission 6, even with gbu-38's never attacked either target for me. He just stays locked to my wing  after acknowledging the f10 command. Probably not your fault Chill, considering DCS AI.

Having run multiple tests lately, there is essentially just one mode that works for the MK-20. I do not think it's normal, probably poorly programmed by Razbam and/or ED. You essentially MUST drop them using CCIP. I tried CCRP with different methods (higher altitude, lower altitude, etc.) and even created a post on the Bugs and Problems for the Harrier, and others have confirmed CCRP doesn't really work.

Meaning there are nearly useless if you're engaging an area that has some kind of air defense close by.

I originally said that Chief is pretty useless in this mission, but then I tried activating Chief at the beginning of each new target assignment. That worked much better, and he actually ended up dropping 8 bombs on 6 targets and going winchester. Starting out with 10 LJDAMs + 2 Rockeyes, I ended up hauling 3 back to the FARP.

I tried the mission 4x today. I was unable to get Chief to attack any targets, he just ignores the command and keeps on flying in formation(I guess he was suppoded to fly high cover anyway?)

I tried it with commanding him right at the start of the assignment as well as after I had destroyed some targets myself.

Unfortunately this is the same issue I had with mission 5, but there I was at least able to have him attack after a couple of tries for the mission.

So I guess there is some bug related to DCS itself?

I just made a quick test again with the single core version, this time chief went to high cover as expected. Will test full mission tomorrow. Seems the problem with wingmans ignoring commands (had a similar problem in the Iron Flag campaign) is related to the Multi Core Version of the game.

Yeah that's right, Reflected has been pushing ED really hard on this one.  We believe its an issue with multicore when the CPU gets heavily loaded and it can cause the game logic to skip a beat, in which case to can miss the command to stop the AI from following the player.  Last I heard the issue has been isolated so can now hopefully be fixed.

I tried the mission 10x again today with the single thread version of the game. Out of these ten tries, Chief went on high cover once. The other nine he stayed in formation and I was not able to get him to attack. So my guess is, it is not related to the multi thread version but there is another bug involved. I was not able to figur out what I did differently in the one try where everything functioned as intended.
