GMSavage Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) I was trying to set up a SAM site to take out a large number of bombers. I set it up for a simple task to take out the hot and high bombers. However, when i tested it, the missile would be launched and 1 second later, they would explode nowhere near the target. On the last missiles, I felt hopeful but nope. they exploded too. I pulled up Trackview to review what happened and maybe found a lead. Any thoughts on what is going on? Ebphoto Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 That’s strange! I set one up the other day I think it was a SA2 and it worked fine. Also the SA6 did as well. Try setting up the Template SAMs that are prebuilt and see if they work. If they do then it’s probably something your doing incorrectly or something. That’s how I would start to troubleshoot this. I’m not really good at making missions etc but those templates work well, at least for me! Give it a try…

There's search radar, tracking radar, command posts, meal trucks, air-conditioned recreational trailers...ok, these aren't Air Force so the recreational trailers don't need air conditioning. But you get the idea. Make sure you have (at least) one of everything when you set up your battery, in general, then work from there. This makes me think there's something missing; tracking radar comes to mind immediately.
draconus Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Also make sure the radar unit is first in the group and the other units have to belong to this one group. That works like a system then. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Dragon1-1 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Make sure they're pointed the right way, too. Unlike Russian SAMs, Patriot can't see to the battery's rear, only in an arc in front of it (120 degrees, IIRC).
