SnowTiger Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Hello y'all. I have been away from DCS for almost 4 full years and only now getting back into it. I had several Custom Skins for the P-51, TF-51 and the Christen Eagle II. I recall saving Custom Skins or Liveries in Bazaar/Liveries/ "Specific Aircraft" however I did not see the CE-2 there. I found it in Mods/Aircraft/Christen Eagle II which has it's own Liveries and Textures Folders. In fact, Mods/Aircraft has folders for each of the Aircraft Modules. SO now I'm confused whether I am supposed to put the Custom Skins/Liveries in DCS Open Beta Bazaar/Liveries OR in Mods/Aircraft/Liveries or wherever ? Maybe Both Locations ? Can someone please straiten me out on this matter. I'd greatly appreciate it especially if I can get a fast, accurate reply while I can still find the Custom Skin Folders that I seem to have hidden on a backup drive (new computer). Please Help ! razo+r Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 If there is a folder in CoreMods put it there otherwise in the bazar directory.

Maybe Both Locations ? None of those, place them at c:/users/your-user/saved games/dcs.openbeta/liveries, like this: each livery on its own subfolder, inside the folder of its respective vehicle. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
razo+r Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 It doesn't matter if you put it in the saved games directory or not. It works in both places. 1

razo+r Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 It asks you if you want to keep these files or not, so it's not deleting them by itself.
SnowTiger Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 I appreciate the replies. However, I am still a bit confused. I can understand that Updates and Repairs may well eliminate custom files and I would like to avoid that but for example, the Christen Eagle II does not even have a folder in Bazaar/Liveries. I could only find it in "mods/aircraft". That said, I like the idea of my custom skins being in Saved Games however, there is No Folder called Liveries in my Saved Games Folder. Do I create a Liveries Folder there ? And are each of the folders you show in your attached image, all custom liveries OR did you copy each of the DCS Bazaar/Liveries folders to put in Saved Games and only added custom skins to those modules you want when you want ? I apologize is that is a bit confusing they way I wrote it. It depends on how new the module is in which of these two locations it will be. New ones are in CoreMods, old ones are in Bazar. Then it's just a matter of finding the aircraft you want and copy the files there. The \Mods\aircraft directory is NOT where you put skins for aircraft. Just like you see in his picture, create a folder for the unit you want to install liveries and then drop the liveries for that unit in the newly created folder. 1
SnowTiger Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Okay. That seems simple enough. Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I'll give it try. Have a great day. PS> I will reply with my results as soon as I get it done and can confirm success. Yes, create a "Liveries" folder inside the DCS.openbeta folder. 24 minutes ago, SnowTiger said: And are each of the folders you show in your attached image, all custom liveries OR did you copy each of the DCS Bazaar/Liveries folders to put in Saved Games and only added custom skins to those modules you want when you want ? I created a folder manually inside /Saved Games/dcs world.openbeta/Liveries, one for each vehicle (not only aircrafts can have skins, ground vehicles and ships can have too) ... the name of the folder needed for the CE is "Christen Eagle II" ... inside this folder, each livery goes into its own sub-folder, which can be named however you like, for example these are the liveries that I have for the Viggen: 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
