I can't seem to find anything to drop some illumination flares for my mission. :helpsmilie: I can't see any illumination flares in the encyclopidia at all. Are they in BS at all? Seem to be having trouble getting them to drop them.. i've set them up like i would if they had normal munitions, but they just fly over the target. Its dawn, maybe they think its light enough :/ Any ideas.. I still haven't succeeded in getting AI to use S-8 smoke-marker rockets though. Anyone got anything on this? Can't you load the AI with smoke rockets and give them a target, make it a point, and they should fire upon it. Change that same mission so He has normal S-8 rockets and He'll happily rocket the target all day! Have selected target as point as well, so he doesn't think He's gotta destroy it. stepad1 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Built a mission today using a Su-25 with S-8TsM's. I made the mission an AFAC. Using a target of choice, I made my 1st waypoint a targeting waypoint (Ground Vehicles), 2nd waypont begin loop, used 1000m for altitude, but your mileage may vary, 3rd waypoint end loop. Su went happily between waypoints diving and marking the target. I would attach a track file if some one would tell me how. When targets are destroyed he stops marking. If new targets come into the designated target area (i.e. trigger in) he'll start up again and mark the new targets. You can also designate multiple target areas and he will fly between the areas and alternatley mark them as long as there are targets in them. MadTommy Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) Just to confirm... Smoke rockets and flares work fine for me now...here is what i did.. 1. Su25T with SAB-100 illumination flare bombs, S-8TsM smoke rockets & mercury targeting pod. 2. Set Task to AFAC 3. Set Skill to Excellent (on normal... they rarely did as they were asked) 4. Set Target to both Point and Vehicles (planes had mix of flares and smoke rockets, and they illuminated the area and marked targets with smoke. 5. Make sure they fly over the target. (sounds obvious, but..) 6. Altitude was at 2,500m I had two Su25T flying a loop dropping flares and marking targets just as i wanted. Thanks for all the help and i hope this helps others. When I set up my mission, I set the AFAC to delay start and spawn in with a trigger point that I have set up on an ingress waypoint. Dusty Rhodes Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) I just did a mission with the AFAC as SU25T and it smoked the column with orange smoke no problem. I set it up as AFAC with excellent rating with WP2 as a turning point and WP3 and 4 as a begin loop and then end loop and it smoked up the column good. I could hear them coughing :) The A-10 is a different story. I am going to attach a mission and you can see for your self what happens. It gets boogered up when set up the same way as the SU25T mission and it has to do with the Target Point and Willie Petes loaded as your AG weapons loadout. Whichever WP you set the target point to, the A-10 flies to that WP and then begins a slow turning decent until it crashes. Add a Maverick or some other weapon to it and it will fly the waypoints, fire off one Maverick into the wild blue yonder right at the WP and then kill one of the targets with the other Maverick, but it WILL NOT engage with Willie Pete Rockets and in one instance after firing off the two Mavericks and having nothing but Willie Petes left for AG weapons, it turned to the right and crashed into the ground. stepad1 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Dusty- Downloaded and tried your A-10 Lawn Dart, quite effective in that role. But anyway after futzing with the mission and taking out the point target setting, it stopped doing the lawn dart thing, but then all it would do was an aerial demo show over the enemy position. I tried every other aircraft that would carry a smoke and they worked fine. So my inintial thoughts are the A-10 A.I. in an AFAC role carrying a smoke is porked. More futzing with it tomorrrow.
