kerlcat Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Kindly remind that the outcome is depending on specific hardware. You may not see the improvement I just saw which is pretty amazing! You might wanna try if you are still with previous stable one like me. In short, this MT version just eliminated my previous stuttering issue. Was occuring each 4-5 sec. Deal killer to VR experince even my previous fps is acceptable. And also see ~10-20% of fps increase. Not that big. But good enough for a SW upgrade. My setting is with many highs and visible range ultra, cloud also ultra. 9800X3D /5090 /64GB /SSD 2T+4T /Crystal Super(<-Quest3<-Pico4<-Rift S<-CV1) /Orion F18 /DOFReality P6
dburne Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Yeah running MT version in VR is especially a no brainer - performance benefit is nice and hopefully they will continue to improve upon it as time moves on. 1 Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|

Yes, the stable version just released in case you didn't realize! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/stable/2.8.4.39731/ But pls notice that it means ST stable with all improvement since Dec. And MT is still same as preview which you might be using as Beta. So for me, MT preview version today (as part of Stable version release today), is way better than my previous Stable version updated in last Dec. I've been finding the opposite. If I run MT - I seem to be getting stutters - whereas on single thread the experience seems to be much smoother. (I am using OpenXR motion reprojection). Thankfully ST is still available to use while they iron out these issues with MT.

Hard to believe it's caused by MT itself which shall be designed to remove those performance bottleneck. Hope you could get it solved soon with ED 's help by submitting your bug. BTW I don't use any reprojection. Fps is about 50-90 now with 3090. 9800X3D /5090 /64GB /SSD 2T+4T /Crystal Super(<-Quest3<-Pico4<-Rift S<-CV1) /Orion F18 /DOFReality P6

Thinder Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 MT is definitively an improvement, it needs a little more performances and fine tuning but is on the right path. I figured my rig is a little GPU biased, there is little more to come from my GPU but the CPU could be made to work harder, also the whole package could put less load on our PCs once fine tuned. Good luck. 1. Ensure you have Oculus SW installed. No need to open; and set OpenXR on under Experimental; 2. Set “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ActiveRuntime" to null. Need to repeat this every time after you opened SteamVR; 3. Create a .bat file to start DCS MT via VD. 1 9800X3D /5090 /64GB /SSD 2T+4T /Crystal Super(<-Quest3<-Pico4<-Rift S<-CV1) /Orion F18 /DOFReality P6

Yes, simple like: 1. switch on VD on PC, 2. put your headset on and also open VD/connect to PC, 3. run .bat... then you are expected to be hanger. 9800X3D /5090 /64GB /SSD 2T+4T /Crystal Super(<-Quest3<-Pico4<-Rift S<-CV1) /Orion F18 /DOFReality P6

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I run VD on Oculus runtime ( by setting active runtime to null and confirmed by VD overlay) I cannot open OpenXR toolkit 1. Ensure you have Oculus SW installed. What Oculus SW do you mean? 2. set OpenXR on under Experimental. Do you mean Turbo mode?
kerlcat Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 @Koziolek I don't use toolkit. So would have to defer to others to help you on that. 1. Oculus software: I meant official Oculus client downloaded from Oculus website VR Meta Quest Help Center | Meta Store. It's used for portal/equipment management of Rift S or Quest2 headset etc. 2. The switch should be in "Setting"-"General"-"OpenXR Runtime". Ignore "experimental" which was incorrect due to my terrible memory. Hope this clarified your questions. 9800X3D /5090 /64GB /SSD 2T+4T /Crystal Super(<-Quest3<-Pico4<-Rift S<-CV1) /Orion F18 /DOFReality P6
